After being overweight for over 20 years, Nick didn’t think it would be possible to lose weight in his 40s.
But as his lack of energy started affecting the time he spent with his two young children, he decided it was time to knuckle down and get fit.

“My results are phenomenal! I lost 49lbs (22kg) in 19 weeks, from 187lbs to 139lbs (85kg to 63kg). My body fat was not measurable initially because I was overweight, but at the end of the transformation, I was 12-13%. I now feel very confident in myself, and I feel nothing is impossible anymore!
“I was able to run 5km (3mi) in 23 and a half minutes, which I had never done before. I was also able to run 15km (9mi). I now know that I can do anything, if I set my mind to it!”
Nick had grown up being active in sports, but as he went on to university and started working, health and fitness took a backseat, and it all resulted in him slowly putting on weight over the years.
“Before my transformation with U.P., my attention span and physical stamina were lacking. I always felt I needed a nap in the afternoon, especially on the weekends. I have very little energy to play with my kids or take them to the playground. I couldn’t run more than 3km (2mi); I couldn’t swim more than two laps in a 25-metre pool!
“Before U.P., my diet was unhealthy and based on convenience. I would eat anything conveniently available or just unhealthy. I also have a habit of overeating and consuming a lot of alcohol. In terms of lifestyle, exercising was infrequent and sedentary. Sleeping habits were very poor, as I was not getting adequate sleep.
“I have two young kids – aged four and two – and they are my key motivating factor for trying to get fit. Because when they become teenagers, I will be close to my 50s.”
