Steve’s health was in a bad way the day he walked into Ultimate Performance.
Fifty-four-year-old Steve’s weight had topped out at 220 lbs – he was overweight, unfit and could barely tie his own shoelaces.
What was really worrying was his blood pressure was dangerously high. He didn’t need a doctor to tell him that he needed to make big changes, and fast.
He felt like he had a mountain to climb – but U.P. helped Steve turn his health around with astonishing speed.
He lost 48 lbs, halved his body fat and completed a remarkable transformation that even his heart specialist still can’t quite believe.
“I am so happy with the results. My goal was to get to 198 lbs – we got way past that, and I didn’t think that was possible.
“When I saw my cardiologist a month ago, my blood pressure was 108/65 – he was astonished!
“He had never in his career seen a patient who had lost weight and come off blood pressure medication through a change in their lifestyle.”
When Steve first signed up to U.P. he was in bad shape.
Blood pressure measurements were sky high, his weight was spiralling out of control and even simply daily tasks like putting on shoes were becoming harder to manage.
But despite all the warning signs, he couldn’t rein in his rollercoaster lifestyle and eating habits.
“I reached a point where physically and mentally, I was no longer comfortable with my health.
“For a few years, I have been worried about my health, and I was concerned if I wouldn’t be around long enough to see my grandchildren.”

Steve says his diet was out of control. He didn’t understand even the basics about diet and nutrition.
So knowing what he knows now, he is shocked about his old lifestyle.
“I would easily eat 3500-4000 calories a day.
“I was eating way too many calories in the form of carbs and fat; I didn’t know anything about protein before I started with U.P.
“I would drink a lot, and it was giving me the entire extra calories burden.
“Even with my wife, we tried the 5:2 Diet before, and it worked, but we got bored with it quite easily as those 2 days where you eat below 600 calories were draining us mentally. It got quite difficult to follow.”
Steve was worried that the training would be too strenuous for him – but U.P. customized his workouts and diet plans keeping his current fitness levels and problems in mind.
“At U.P., I learned not to be afraid of weight training.
“In the beginning, the weights weren’t that heavy, the programme wasn’t that strenuous, but it built over time.
“I realized that with muscle growth comes increased calorie burn, so overall in terms of weight loss that was an effective aid in helping me achieve my goals – burn fat and lose weight.
“My diet changed quite dramatically at U.P. I learned about discipline when it came to nutrition. I learnt how much my body needs in terms of macronutrients, so I don’t only lose weight in terms of fat but also maintain a lean body mass.”
With weight training and a structured diet, he finally inched closer to his goals. Something that he never believed possible now seemed easy.
“I was just here for the weight loss I was not here for better physique necessarily, but that’s a plus that’s come with the programme.”
Steve has noticed a huge difference in everyday life that comes with being lighter, stronger, fitter and fuelling himself with the right foods.
“Overall, I feel my ability to focus for a longer period has improved. My strength, stamina, and endurance have all improved, I sleep better now, and my digestion got better. I don’t feel bloated anymore. I feel mentally very strong.
“My wife is over the moon that I am no longer a health risk, and that makes her very happy – she says she misses cuddling me though!
“My friends and folks who don’t see me regularly, their reaction has been incredible. Everyone’s asking me how I did it.
“If someone were to ask me if they should sign up for U.P., I would say, just do it. You might be worried that you would fail to achieve your goals. But it is a well-structured and systematic programme that delivers upon its promises.”
