Mike believes he’s ‘added decades to his life’ losing 27kg (60lbs) for his children

Mike’s body weight meant he was resigned to watching his two young boys enjoy their favourite activities without him.
As they scaled a rock climbing wall, he could only spectate from below knowing he was too heavy to get involved.
All Mike wanted was to become a fit and healthy role-model father who could keep up with his energetic children.
To do that, he knew he needed to lose weight he’d carried all his life.
At 40, he had tried a handful of quick-fix diets and exercise programs with little success.
Now with focused personal training and accountability he’s been able to lose a staggering [weight kG=27] with Ultimate Performance.

He feels like it has given him back an amazing life with his children.
“As someone who has been overweight my whole life, I’ve tried numerous diets and exercise programs but none of them have worked – until I found U.P.
“I honestly believe I’ve added decades to my life.
“I’m now at the lowest weight in my adult life, everything has totally changed. We recently went rock climbing again with the kids and I could join in, which was a lot of fun.”
Here, Mike speaks about overcoming the fear of training, how his trainer kept him honest and on track to his goal, and the incredible reaction of friends and family to his surprise transformation.

What motivated you to begin training with U.P.?
I joined U.P. because I was tired of watching my kids grow up and watching from the sidelines.
We went rock climbing one time and I couldn’t join in because I was too big. We’d also go to the water park together and I wasn’t able to ride any of the slides, so I really needed to do something about my weight to become more present in my kids’ lives.
I just wanted to get fitter. As someone who has been overweight his whole life, I’ve tried numerous diets and exercise programs but none of them have worked – until I found U.P. I had friends that trained with U.P. in the past and achieved great results so I wanted to try it out for myself.

Before you began working with your trainer, how did you feel about yourself?
My lifestyle before I joined U.P. was not good. If I didn’t come here, I would definitely still be going up in weight. I wasn’t paying attention at all to what I was eating and would drink a lot of alcohol throughout the week.
I honestly believe I’ve added decades to my life. If I kept going at the rate I was, I think I would have been lucky to make it to 70 years old. Now, I think I could be around for a lot longer!

What impact has your transformation had on your life?
I’m now at the lowest weight in my adult life, everything has totally changed. We recently went rock climbing again with the kids and I could join in, which was a lot of fun. We now play tennis every week, go on long walks and play soccer together. It’s had a tremendous impact.
My parents hadn’t seen me in two years because of Covid, so when I went home for Christmas, they were shocked. Plus, when we all returned back to the office, two of my work colleagues didn’t even recognise me!

How important was your trainer in helping you achieve your incredible results?
At first, I was a little bit apprehensive and nervous about the training we were going to do. I was worried it was going to be too intense for me.
But my trainer has helped me in so many ways. Firstly, on the gym floor, she made sure I didn’t put a foot wrong, so every movement was performed correctly.
It really helped me avoid injury and maximise my results. I also really appreciate my trainer giving me honest feedback, she really helped me lead a good lifestyle and make good choices during my transformation.
