Arman’s transformation wasn’t just about weight – it was about reclaiming his life. At 39, he was more than 50kg (110lbs) overweight, dangerously hypertensive, and unable to keep up with his young son.

Daily tasks left him breathless. He couldn’t run, jump, or even play football without exhaustion. Worse, he feared the same fate as his father – who sadly passed away from a heart attack brought on by years of unhealthy habits.

But since starting his journey with Ultimate Performance, Arman’s life has completely turned around. He no longer needs the blood pressure medication he’d relied on for years. He trains five days a week, walks over 20,000 steps a day, and even inspired his wife to start her own transformation journey.

What follows is a powerful interview that reveals how Arman went from fearing for his life – to living it fully.

How did you feel about your body and health before you started at U.P.?

Well, before that, it was not only about my weight, it was about my health. And my overall feeling and self-perception. Before, I couldn’t do certain things. I couldn’t be active with my son. I could not participate at all in this world, as you might say. So, I wasn’t happy.

What made you want to change? Was there a particular wake-up call?

My dad was overweight and he died because of a heart attack. So heart failure. So it was a direct result of him living unhealthy life, and being overweight. So yeah – it was kind of important for me.

Did you do any exercise before you started at U.P.?

Before joining, I didn’t train at all. I was kind of scared a little bit, because I wasn’t sure how I am going to do it. I thought ‘am I going to make it?’

What was your training ability like at the start, and what can you do now?

Well, when we started, everything was hard. I would sweat a lot. I couldn’t do push-ups, I couldn’t do pull-ups. My bench press was just the empty bar. Now, like, I can do a lot more. I can do eight proper pull-ups. But I don’t want to stop there. I want to go further and be consistent and steadily improve.

You mentioned struggles with your diet and food intake. How did you work through that?

Yeah, this has been a story of my life because I used to eat a lot. It’s not like you suddenly change your habits of eating it. It’s a gradual process. So now I understand that it takes time to change your habits, and you have to do it slowly and gradually, and then you can do it.

Since dropping over 50kg, how do you feel about yourself?

Oh, I feel a lot better. I’m more active now. I can go the shop and try clothes, and they fit! I’m not worried about equipment I might break – like if I use some board for instance, there’s a limit there, like 100kg. I’ve never tried it, but I can go bungee jumping. Now I can do it! Because I’m not overweight.

What did you know about nutrition before you started at U.P.? And what have you learned that made the biggest difference?

Well, honestly, I knew almost nothing. I learned all these things about carbs, fat, protein. Protein is the basis for everything, actually. And right now, counting calories. Not specifically counting, but I roughly have the idea of estimated amount of calories I consume. This practice is not hard to implement in my life – when you get used to it, it gets easier. You just have to be conscious about what you eat and constantly making better choices for your health, for your life.

How has your blood pressure changed since starting your transformation?

Yeah, it’s stable. It’s stabilised. So it was like almost 180 before, even if I just walked a bit faster than usual. Now it’s like 125 or 130, which is normal for me. And I feel it. It’s really important for you.
I don’t need medication anymore.

You’ve also been for more blood tests, what results have you seen with your health there?

I think it’s a lot better than the blood tests I had before! My insulin levels are low and now in the healthy range – whereas before they were almost in the diabetic area.

What have you learned through this experience that has been valuable?

To say valuable is nothing. It’s been life-changing, because my health and overall life depends on it. I learned how to exercise properly, how to eat properly, how to change my lifestyle.

I think this is one of the most important things I’ve done in my life. It was a life-changing experience, and this is something I should be proud of.
What I learned was that anything is possible if you be dedicated, and gradually you will move towards your goal.

And how does it feel now being a role model for your son?

I feel a lot better. Because he can look up to me. I can be more active with him. I can even do these little things, like I play football with him, or do a little dribbling without breaking a sweat. He’s five, so he’s like, running around so I can spend more time with him, which is valuable.

How has what you achieved in the gym improved your life outside the gym?

People treat me better because I’m confident. Because if you’re more physically fit or attractive to people, then people treat you better. That’s the hard truth of life. So it has changed the way I interact with people outside the gym as well. So I feel more confident.

What did you think when you saw your photoshoot pictures?

When I saw the pictures of those photoshoot, I was really shocked! I did not recognise myself – even still, when I look at them, I have this like second look at them. ‘Is it me? Or is it someone else?’ Because my body changed so dramatically.

What’s been the emotional impact of these results? And what have people’s reaction been?

Those compliments I received here after losing weight, they have boosted my confidence to the highest level possible. I’m really more confident now. But I also have to come to terms with the fact that I should not downplay or just brush off this achievement. If someone else could lose this amount of weight and I would be like, ‘Wow, this is a great achievement!’ While someone complimented me, I’m like, ‘Ah, that’s nice.’  What I really think I should say, like,, ‘Yeah, that’s a great achievement. I’m proud of it.’

What would you say to someone who’s thinking of joining U.P.?

Yes definitely I would recommend this experience to everyone. I wouldn’t say this is like a magic pill that’s like an easy choice. You have to work hard. But it’s worth it 100%.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Yeah, I recently convinced my wife to join U.P. so we can be in this journey together. I’m looking forward to see her transformation as well.
