Farouk builds an athletic physique in 17 weeks after 5 years of trying alone

Farouk gained 30kg in weight after he quit his career as a dancer five years ago.
The 39-year-old spent the next four years trying to get back in shape but couldn’t build a physique he was proud of, even as a former athlete.
He had always struggled with body image and managed to lose some weight training alone, but it was Ultimate Performance that showed him what he was really capable of.
Farouk began noticing results almost immediately after adhering to his tailor-made U.P. program. After 17 weeks, he had dropped 10kg and was leaner than ever before.
He had tried a handful of other personal trainers in the last decade, but suggested U.P.’s all-encompassing approach has delivered incomparable results to any other trainer.

“I've always struggled with weight and body image and my weight and motivation regularly fluctuates.
“I had previously worked with three different personal trainers over the last decade.
“U.P. are by far the best for many reasons. I improved my mind-muscle connection, was given motivation and really felt like my trainer was with me every rep. It was second to none.”
Here, Farouk talks about how his U.P. trainer was able to deliver results that none of his trainers in the past could, and how he now has the knowledge to continue to develop in the future.

What was your motivation to join U.P.?
I was very unhealthy about five years ago when I put on 30kg after I quit my career as a dancer.
I woke up one morning and decided I needed to change things, so I've been on and off dieting and exercising in the gym for the last four years.
I've gradually worked my way down, but U.P. has really helped me get to that next level.

How was your previous lifestyle making you feel?
I've always struggled with weight and body image and my weight and motivation regularly fluctuates.
So, when I'm very motivated, I can be quite determined with my weight and bring it down quite well, but it often goes out the window when I lose motivation.
So, it's been a struggle, but it's been quite refreshing to have the guidance from U.P. I’ve picked up a lot of knowledge from the app and my trainer messaging me every day really pushes me to keep on track.

How does the training at U.P. compare to what you have done previously?
I had previously worked with three different personal trainers over the last decade.
U.P. are by far the best for many reasons. I improved my mind-muscle connection, was given motivation and really felt like my trainer was with me every rep.
It was second to none. I think the knowledge of the trainers here is better than anyone I've ever met or watched online.

How have you changed physically and mentally since training at U.P.?
The difference is massive. I've now sub 10% body fat which is something that I really wanted to do, but I never actually really thought possible.
There was part of me that knew it was possible, but I knew it was going to be hard. So, getting that measurement in was a real proud moment for myself.
Pushing yourself and sticking to the diet takes a lot of mental resilience and I think I've learned a lot about myself in that regard over the last 16 weeks. It's definitely hardened me in good ways, both physically and mentally.

Has U.P. changed your perception of resistance training?
Before U.P. I used to do a fair amount of resistance training. I thought I was quite knowledgeable, but I came in here and I learned so much more.
My attitude towards time under tension, tempo of reps, volume training and mind-muscle connection have drastically improved. I’ve seen some unbelievable changes to my body and I've got definition in places that I've never had definition before.
My face has changed, my posture's changed, everything has changed! My back is strong and shredded which people have noticed, and I've also achieved personal bests on deadlifts and incline dumbbell press, plus a few other exercises.

Just summarise your experience with U.P. the impact the transformation has had on you
It has been great, I can honestly say it’s been a life-changing experience for me.
Not just because of the transformation, but because I know how to do this again. I know if I want to get shredded or for whatever reason I need to lose weight, I can get back to this because I’ve done it before.
I've gone through the physical and mental barriers needed and I know I can do it again. That knowledge is invaluable.
