When 36-year-old Ed signed up to Ultimate Performance, he didn’t fully know what he was getting into.

It was a spur-of-the-moment decision – encouraged by a friend who’d done the program before – but it turned out to be one of the most rewarding decisions he’s ever made.

In just 15 weeks, Ed lost 9.3kg (20lbs) and 12.4cm from his waist, transforming his physique beyond anything he thought possible.

The results aren’t just skin deep – he’s experiencing better sleep, more energy, and a completely new level of self-confidence.

And all of this was achieved without giving up travel, dinners out, or a social life with his friends.

Below, Ed shares the surprising simplicity of his journey, the key habits that kept him consistent, and why accountability was the key to his 15-week results.

What made you decide to start training at U.P.?

I didn’t really know what I was getting myself in for, in part because I think I decided on a little bit of a whim that I was going to do this. With somebody else around me who has done the program and spoke highly of it, so I thought I’d give it a go.

The speed of the results is pretty incredible. Then you get sucked into it and it’s motivating – so actually it’s not hard or doesn’t become a chore.

You had four weeks travelling during the program – how did you manage to stay on track with the help of your trainer?

Getting the diet plan in place from the get-go was really important. Once you’ve got a grasp of it, it doesn’t really matter where you are. You can kind of keep on top of it.

Whenever I was travelling, I’d find a gym, I just knew how to keep up with the routine, and I knew sort of how to do different types of exercises.

I actually discussed a few times in advance of those trips (with my trainer) what are the sort of routines I should be doing or what I should be thinking about from that perspective.

How did you find the tracking and nutrition side of things?

I found the tracking quite easy. The UP Transform app is easy to use. Most things are on there. If not, you just get the barcode.

Initially, I found tracking, or just getting inside of the limit, really difficult because I just didn’t have any familiarity or awareness of like how many calories or how much protein is in some chicken.

But then, after a week you get that pretty quickly. it’s super quick to be able to track it all, so it’s a good tool.

How do you feel now compared to when you first started?

I feel good! Looking at the photo comparisons, I can’t actually believe that I looked like that before.

It’s funny, I never thought of myself as actually sort of in that kind of shape. And I look at myself now, I’m like, oh my God, that’s mad.

The change is just phenomenal.

Health-wise, I think I’m probably sleeping a little bit better, and I feel like I have more energy. It’s been eye opening, just in terms of how much your body can change.

What have your friends, family, or colleagues said about your transformation?

Other than taking the p*ss out of me and sort of how obsessed I am about it… I think they’ve been pretty impressed by how quickly you can transform if you put your mind to it.

I’ve been able to do it without totally sacrificing life. I’ve still been able to go and see mates for drinks, I’ve still been able to go out for dinner, I’ve still been able to go travelling.

Ironically, some of them might not even have known I was doing it if they just saw me clothed. But I think that’s sort of testament to just getting it into your day.

Would you recommend U.P. to others?

Yeah, 100%.

Because you can’t do it on your own. There’s an element of accountability, both to myself but also to the trainer. Knowing that we’ve set these goals, I need to get there, and if I don’t, then I’ll be disappointed in myself. And I’m sure they would too.

So that’s a massive additional motivating factor. Then I think when you’re working out, I would probably get an extra 40% push from the trainer rather than just doing it myself.

ABOUT OUR RESULTS

  • We show you the best, we don't show you the worst.
  • We show you people who follow the plans, not those who are all talk.
  • We show you those who inspire even us with their commitment to their results.
  • You cannot get results exactly like these. You are unique and that means you can only get your own best possible results.
  • Your results are a function of time spent following the plan; your genetic response to the right exercise and diet program; how hard you train; how consistently you come to the gym; how disciplined you are with your diet; & your starting point.
