Client of the Month: Katrina

Katrina was fit and had completed triathlons in the past.

But despite exercising regularly, she was gaining weight uncontrollably, and she knew her poor diet and lifestyle habits were to blame.

Eating healthily during the day would give way to chocolate, takeaways and alcohol in the evenings.

When her weight issues started affecting her social life, 30-year-old public health manager knew it was time to take control of her own health.

A quick search online brought her to Ultimate Performance, and the reviews and testimonials quickly convinced her that this is the place for her.

"I have lost 24kg in 9 months of training with U.P., and I still have to pinch myself that I've achieved those goals.

“When I used to train by myself, I'd find it hard even to lose half a stone and to come this far and lose three and a half stone in such a healthy and positive way is beyond belief.

“I feel like the person I've always wanted to be, and I've never looked or felt as good as I do now!"

Katrina really enjoyed the training and her gym time, and was reasonably fit when she started U.P.

In fact, she had self-trained and competed in 2 triathlons over the last few years, but looking in the mirror, she saw a woman weighing close to 100kg.

"I definitely went over my calorie count every day, and that affected my weight and mindset.

“Breakfast and lunch would be healthy, but towards the evening, I would start to snack – if I had a stressful day, I would order a pizza and crisps and chocolates would make an appearance.

“Alcohol is a big thing for socialising in London, and meeting co-workers and friends after work would lead to regular overindulgence.”

“So, the hard work I was putting in at the gym didn't show. Deep down, I knew it was my diet that was the problem.”

MAKE YOUR TRAINING ROUTINE AS EFFECTIVE AS IT CAN BE.

The impact on the way she felt was devastating. Every time she looked in the mirror, every time she went shopping or went out socialising with friends, it was always in the back of her mind.

“I was really unhappy with how I looked and felt. I was overweight, I was not toned, I had high fat levels, and that affected me emotionally as well. Before U.P., I didn't enjoy preparing to go out at night with my girlfriends, and shopping was an issue.

“It just demotivated me in a way that I would just rather be sitting in my gym gear at home.”

Katrina loves a challenge, and signing up to U.P. gave her one to really sink her teeth into.

The intensive weight training and stripped-down-and-cleaned-out diet had her shedding kilos week on week, and her trainer kept her motivated and accountable all throughout.

“U.P. has enabled me to increase my knowledge of nutrition – I thought I knew it – but they have really tailored it to what my body needs. Now I have the tools to adapt and take this forward.

For Katrina, the high point of the whole training was doing a photoshoot. She dialed up the intensity of her training to be ready for the big day and enjoyed every minute of it.

“While it’s hard, the results in the end as seen in the picture – well, you can’t ask for more really. It is the best thing I have ever done and will ever do.”

“On day one, my trainer said ‘Oh, we can get you there, and we can reach these goals.’ I didn't think I ever really believed it, and as the month started to progress, your goal started to become a reality.

“Then you start to set new goals, and ultimately, by the end, I realized that the photoshoot was going to be the biggest goal for me.

“It wasn't easy, and it definitely had its challenges. But I can say that the day of my shoot was probably the best day that I've ever had. I reached a point that I didn't think I'd ever get to again – it was an experience that I'll never forget.”

“Everyone underestimates what they can do, and I never thought I would be able to achieve these results. It is important to enjoy the process and discover what your body is capable of doing.”

Achieving your fitness goals is never easy, but we can help you get there!
