Client of the Month: Jason

Jason had been living an unhealthy lifestyle for so long that he’d forgotten what feeling good was like.
Smoking half a packet of cigarettes a day, eating junk food and barely exercising, he didn’t realise how lethargic he felt as it had become the norm. Then, Jason started training at Ultimate Performance Hong Kong, quit smoking after 22 years and got a whole new lease of life.
“I’ve quit smoking, no longer rely on alcohol, my energy levels have increased and my body is in the best shape ever.”
Jason’s new lifestyle is having a positive effect on his family life too.
“The biggest benefit for me would be the time and energy I gained with my family. I am spending one hour a day working out, which is not even 5% of my day. It is definitely giving me more in return in terms of my focus at work, time with family and self-confidence.”
Jason explains how this transformation has been life changing and how it has gone beyond just transforming what he sees in the mirror.
What was the one thing that you changed that made the biggest difference to your transformation?
I quit smoking. I went from half a pack a day for the past 22 years to zero by doing it cold turkey. The program encouraged me to keep my mindset together. I can actually feel my breathing and strength are getting stronger on a daily basis and that’s what drives me further.
What were your motivations for starting a transformation journey with U.P.?
I saw the results one of my colleagues achieved in such a short period of time. So we joined U.P. as a group to encourage each other within our office.
How you were feeling both physically and mentally before starting with U.P.?
Honestly, I didn’t know what it was like feeling great or being strong physically before I started with U.P. Perhaps it was because I had been living in that sluggish, inactive state for too long. I was constantly looking for supplements, cigarettes and coffee just to wake up and try to extract more energy from my body.
What was your diet and lifestyle like before you started your transformation with U.P.?
I used to drink alcohol every night and I would eat whatever was convenient and would go with my wine - salami, chips or fast food. I didn’t really have a sleep pattern either but I honestly didn’t think there was anything wrong with my energy levels until U.P. showed me what having good, real energy levels feels like.
How did your diet and lifestyle change when you started your transformation with U.P.?
I started to learn about food and I began reading the nutrition labels of food. I followed my trainer Joseph’s advice on what to eat. I also started implementing a sleeping pattern, going to bed before 11pm every night and waking up before 7am almost every day. I have found my body recovers better the next day now, even after a 10km run and weight training. I always feel like there is more left in the tank.
What effect did this have on your health, performance, lifestyle and energy inside and outside the gym?
I can easily run a 10k in under an hour now and I am lifting weights three times heavier than when I started. I am also spending more time with my family as I make the most out of my day. My energy levels are so great now that I don’t feel tired after exercising in the morning and I am more energised, with a clear mindset throughout the day. I now understand how amazing the human body can be. It’s definitely a result I can feel within.
What were your results like after your transformation?
I’m in the best state ever and I’m in my late 30s. But my physique has become a by-product for me. My body’s response, my energy levels and my strength go way beyond what I look like in the mirror.
What were the most important things you learned during your journey and what really worked for you in helping you make your transformation?
Knowing what to eat and enjoying my food. I have created a lifestyle, rather than a diet that won’t last.
I have learned the importance of doing exercise and weightlifting under supervision and guidance. The correct posture, appropriate weight and tempo have definitely made a huge difference in my transformation.
How has doing this transformation changed you and do you think it will benefit you going forward?
A new meaning of 'feeling great' was introduced to me. It’s a transformation that goes beyond just what I look like in the mirror. It hasn’t just changed me, it has also changed my family. We are now eating healthily, sharing nutrition facts and using exercise as a way to spend quality time together.
Would you recommend U.P. and why?
Definitely. Why? Results. The program produces results in a matter of weeks. It has been the best investment. I’ve quit smoking, no longer rely on alcohol, my energy levels have increased and my body is in the best shape ever.
