Andrew feels “invincible” in six-pack shape ready to turn 40

For me, to sit here today being the oldest I've ever been, and looking the best I ever have, is an unbelievable feeling. It hasn’t sunk in yet.
Andrew couldn’t help but feel disappointed with his body as he approached his 40th birthday.
He’d always had a vision in his mind of how he wanted to look as he stepped into his forties.
But it hadn’t turned out the way he hoped. He wasn’t proud of his physique one bit.
Instead of trying to go it alone with a vague DIY plan, he teamed up with a U.P. personal trainer for precision results.
Andrew admitted he almost “hit the deck” after his trainer outlined his goals – but in 16 weeks – the results have been far better than he ever expected.
The 39-year old has razor-sharp abs for the first time ever and can’t remember ever being so strong.
Not even an unpredictable, on-the-go travel schedule could derail his training, diet, or motivation.
This is just the beginning, Andrew says! He explains why, and discusses his body transformation here…

How do you feel having surpassed all your hopes and expectations with U.P.?
I feel invincible. It's unbelievable how much you can achieve when you have a plan and some proper training. I feel unbelievable.
I'm a goal-oriented person, but I almost hit the deck when my trainer sat me down and outlined what some of the benchmarks were going to be. I didn't think it was remotely possible or achievable, so to surpass those initial goals is amazing. I feel great.
My confidence is through the roof, whether it's family, friends, colleagues, everyone's kind of taking notice. And the amazing thing is how my confidence is spilling over, not just into my personal life, but my professional life as well. It's a lot of fun right now.
Every day we get older. You're always the oldest you've ever been. So, for me to sit here today being the oldest I've ever been, and looking the best I ever have, is an unbelievable feeling.
It's an incredible achievement. I'm very proud of myself. I can't be more thankful and grateful to Ultimate Performance personal trainers.

How much have you enjoyed transitioning to this new, active way of life?
It's made all the difference in the world.
Sometimes you just need pushing, coaching, and to understand how easy it is to be active. Not having that feeling of inertia is great.
I feel much less sedentary and now I'm ready to run through a brick wall. This is not the finish line, it's the starting line, and I'm really excited about a new way of life.
Were you impressed with how disciplined you remained throughout the process?
I travel extensively. I had to be disciplined. You've got to lay it all on the line about the goals you're trying to achieve and if anyone gives you a hard time, screw them.
It's a cliché, but it's true. If you fail to prepare, then prepare to fail. I had to make extra effort to make sure I had the resources I needed while I was traveling, primarily on the nutrition front. As long as I had it, it was easy to stick to the plan.
I felt like I had a really good plan. I knew exactly what to do. I had the resources that I needed. I probably was that much more committed to prove people wrong. It's just making sure that you stay focused and committed and not really allowing yourself to waver.
As diligent as I was, I did have a drink here and there. It's understanding that if you have a small trip, you can't stumble. But if you have a small trip, it's not going to kill you so long as you remain committed. There’s a balancing act.
I think you have to keep your priorities in line, but don't let a small little trip up sabotage you. That's foolish.

What advice would you give to anybody looking to start on their own fitness journey?
I think it's very easy to get overwhelmed by the finish line at the beginning, and I think it's important to recognise that it's journey. It's not a sprint. You've got to stick to the plan and stay committed.
I expressed some frustrations early on. I felt like I was doing all the right things, wasn't seeing the results that I wanted, and my trainer kept encouraging me and just told me to stick with it.
Those small steps all added up. We were probably two thirds of the way to where we are now when all of a sudden you just saw the accumulation of everything. It just accelerated. Those small wins carry you there.
