Jamaal’s Incredible 12-week transformation at Ultimate Performance

37-year-old Jamaal used to dread his morning routine once his alarm sounded.

Without fail, he’d wake up with zero energy or enthusiasm after a rough night’s sleep.

He’d force himself out of bed and head to work with nothing in the tank. Far from ideal, given his job involved heavy lifting, climbing, and going up and down ladders all day.

Jamaal had promised himself that he’d do something about his poor lifestyle and stop-start fitness for years.

But he always put it on hold.

As he grew more and more unfit, he was now tired of thinking, ‘what if I was in good shape?’

He was ready to make real-life changes and lose the big stomach that he’d started to notice.

Jamaal put his faith in an Ultimate Performance personal training plan.

Just 12 weeks later, he could never have imagined such changes were possible. 10kg lighter – he springs out of bed every morning and is undeniably the fittest member of his team at work.

Boasting a six-pack he never thought possible, we interview Jamaal to hear his thoughts about his transformation at Ultimate Performance…

Why did you want to start a personal training program with Ultimate Performance?

I wanted to stop talking about the things I wanted to do. This time, I wanted to do them.

I’ve been wanting to get in good shape for a while. I was looking forward to making a change, getting fit, and feeling good about myself.

Tell us how you feel after 12 weeks of working with your U.P. trainer.

I’ve seen my body change enormously.

My stomach is much smaller now, and I have energy when I wake up. I get out of bed nice and springy in the morning and feel good about myself.

I used to drag myself out of bed in the past and feel sluggish for the first hour of every morning. That’s a lot different now.

You mentioned you feel much fitter, stronger, and more energetic now. How is that helping you day-to-day?

I have a very physical job. I’m doing a lot of lifting, climbing, and going up and down ladders. So, it definitely helps.

I see the difference between me being at the fitness level that I’m at and other coworkers of mine. They struggle to do a lot of the tasks that we have to do, whereas it’s a little easier for me.

Aside from the obvious physical improvement, how else do you think your transformation has benefited you?

I feel like working out and learning self-discipline have affected other aspects of my life. I find more discipline in the other areas.

That’s one good effect because if you can get up and do this every day, some of the things that you slack on become easier. For example, things like getting up and cleaning up a house.

So, doing simple tasks that you might procrastinate on, I feel like when you find the discipline fitness-wise, it shows in other areas of your life, too.

What about your friends, family, and colleagues? Have they commented on the incredible progress you’ve made?

I get a lot of compliments and comments from my friends and coworkers.

People have said some great things about my weight loss. I feel like I can walk around with my shirt off without feeling uncomfortable, which is new to me.

What do you think it is that makes U.P. so different from other personal trainers?

I believe what separates U.P. from the competition is the attention to detail. With U.P., you get a more personal experience that I’ve never seen before.

You feel like someone is assigned to you, monitoring your progress and keeping you on track.

That makes a huge difference every single day, and I think it puts U.P. in a league of its own.

Tell us a little bit more about your training experience. Did you face any challenges?

Honestly, the only obstacle I faced during my training was myself. Staying disciplined, focused, and sticking to the program without giving in to food cravings or taking a day off. So, for me, the biggest challenge throughout the process was just myself.

But I made sure I was dedicated, and even on the days that I didn’t feel like getting up, I made sure I did. A lot of that was down to the accountability of my trainer, too.

What would you say to someone thinking of starting their own U.P. training program?

The advice I would give people is to give it a go. Turn up, motivate yourself, and stick to the program.

As long as you stick to your program, you’ll see results. It’s that simple.
