“I am delighted with the results. I’ve certainly got a lot bigger and stronger. The weight coming off around my stomach has been fantastic.”

43-year-old solicitor Jonathan had allowed his professional life to overpower his health.

He worked long, late hours and didn’t need reminding his work-life balance was way off.

Now into his forties, Jonathan realised it was time to get his priorities straight. He didn’t want to hit 50 out of shape and regretful he hadn’t dedicated more time to himself.

His pursuit of a happier, healthier lifestyle started with an Ultimate Performance personal training plan… and the changes have been empowering.

Jonathan has created a whole new routine, with time for home, fitness, and work. It’s helped him drop more than 15kg and uncover six-pack abs he’d last seen in his twenties.

He boasts a different kind of confidence now, and people are beginning to notice. Just last week the security staff in his office asked him how he’d made so much progress in so little time.

Here, Jonathan explains how with the help of his trainer, making such progress was made simple…

What was your motivation for joining U.P.?

Before starting with U.P., I took a few photographs at work for presentation documents, and after one look at some of the photos, it became obvious that I was starting to look a lot bigger than I should have.

I used to play a lot of sport, but that had tapered off in the last few years. I felt I needed to get back in shape.

How quickly did you start noticing results?

With all those leg exercises, I would say I noticed the pain first! But the results were not far behind; the weight started dropping off pretty quickly.

My muscles started to feel like they were there again. And it was pretty consistent; almost a straight-line drop in weight as the weeks went by. Throughout my transformation training sessions, the exercises we wanted to do were pretty structured and planned.

I got a lot of motivation for the diet and tons of advice; what would work for keeping the weight loss going, activities outside the gym, making sure I got my steps in, etc. I got lots of instruction, lots of guidance, and plenty of pushing onto the next level.

What were your challenges or obstacles throughout the experience?

I suffered from a bit of gout in my feet, which flared up now and again, particularly after playing football. That, and the muscle pulls I suffered during games impacted on some of the exercises I did during the U.P. sessions.

There were some occasions where I had to take a little bit of time off for a couple of bereavements in the family and put on a few pounds that I didn’t really want to. But I was able to get back on track and get to the goals that I set myself.

Throughout all this, my trainer kept the motivation up and helped me to get through it all and keep pushing through.

How do you feel physically and mentally now compared to when you started?

Physically and mentally, I’ve never felt in better shape.

I think I was probably this weight in my late teens or early twenties. Even when I was playing football regularly, my muscle tone wasn’t quite up to what I’ve got now.

Ditto with my cardio. I think I’ve done quite well. I’ve lost 24cm from my waist. My beer belly is all but gone. I can almost see my abs. My biceps are a bit bigger.

It’s a proper transformation curve!

How would you describe the atmosphere at U.P.?

All the trainers are really friendly. I know them all by name. They all know me by name. It’s a great friendly atmosphere.

Everyone chats in the changing room about how they’re getting along, how well they’re doing, what they’re doing, what their diet is, etc. It’s a friendly sort of collegiate atmosphere.

Would you say you’ve got a return on your investment? Would you recommend U.P.?

When I was thinking about joining U.P. and browsing the website and the marketing material, I considered this an investment in myself.

I started U.P. thinking of it that way, and I have done it the whole way through. And now I can confidently say it has been worth every penny.

I’ve already recommended U.P. to some friends and colleagues who need to shift a few pounds. They’re all really impressed with the results that I’ve got and are interested in finding out how they can help themselves.
