Lockdown, paired with working from home, had left Tim overweight, feeling self-conscious and struggling with worrying high blood pressure.

Boredom and not being able to switch off from the office led to eating and drinking excessively, resulting in his weight creeping up.

Despite undergoing a transformation at another gym some years back, Tim’s drive and dedication to his health had slipped, leaving him feeling desperate and hopeless.

But since joining Ultimate Performance, Tim’s lifestyle has done a complete 180, allowing him to feel energised and happy.

“My blood pressure has improved, which has been life-changing.

“My whole mindset has changed. My health wasn’t a priority and now that’s flipped on its head. It’s at the forefront of all my decisions now.”

Before starting his fitness journey, Tim’s lifestyle was getting worse as each day crept by. Working from home (or living at work) was leading to a poor sleep cycle, leaving him sluggish and fatigued the next day. With exercise and nutritious food the last things on his mind, Tim’s blood pressure began to rise.

“My diet, before I joined, was horrendous. I was eating and drinking all the things you shouldn’t, but in excess. I wasn’t looking after myself.

“I was making very poor decisions.”

“I was chasing happiness through alcohol and a poor diet.”

As somebody that had previously been coached by a PT, Tim knew the basics when it came to fitness. However, what he was lacking was the push to see his potential. Since working out with his trainer at U.P., how much he is capable of has been astounding.

“I started seeing results fairly quickly. My body reacted very quickly, which is a reflection of U.P. as a whole. Within the first week, my moods changed, everything changed.

“Physical changes happened in a fortnight. I had less bloat. I could see my body reacting and shifting.”

With his inflammation lessening already, Tim began to notice emotional changes, too. With his poor health beginning to take a toll on his mind, anxious thoughts began creeping in. However, since shaping up his routine, his mental wellbeing has soared as well as his physical health.

“Anxiety was creeping up. I wasn’t in a good mindset.

“I now go to bed happy, then have a great quality sleep and wake up again happy.”

With his heart set on completing his transformation with a photoshoot, Tim worked harder than ever. Uncertain at first, Tim now sees himself as his own inspiration, which he puts down to the endless support system within U.P. Despite being daunted at first, Tim described the ‘family atmosphere’ within the gym, which instantly put him at ease.

“It seemed daunting to begin with. But now, I feel at home at the gym. The trainers are very welcoming. I know them all by first name.

“I’m so glad I did the photoshoot. Now I can use the pictures as a goal if I ever slip up again. I didn’t believe it was me in the pictures.”

When Tim thought back to his previous transformation at another gym, he highlighted the lack of a personal touch, leaving him feeling aimless and without direction.

“I went to a different personal trainer a couple of years ago and did another transformation. There’s a vast difference between the quality at U.P. and the previous gym. I’m not just a number here. There’s a lot more interaction and focus.

“If I’m flat when I come to the gym, it’s going to be a poor workout. My trainer was rock solid when it came to boosting me.”

After his transformation, Tim’s sleep pattern has improved, leading to him springing out of bed for the day ahead.

Invaluable guidance on nutrition and diet have allowed him to continue to enjoy the foods he loves, avoiding any restrictive rules. His mood and lower blood pressure have been the most remarkable changes, highlighting the importance of an active, balanced lifestyle, encouraged at U.P. He is all the more happy because of it.

“I was hoping to achieve happiness in myself, internally and how I looked. I wanted to get my confidence back. I feel like I have achieved more than I gave myself credit for.”
