Financial advisor Samuel got a real return on his investment in the form of 19kg (42lbs) weight loss and newfound health and fitness.

He had been trying to shift weight from his belly for some time, but when lockdown happened, it made matters worse.

“It’s chalk and cheese in terms of comparing myself to when I first joined U.P. to now. I’m the fittest I’ve been in 13 years. I feel a lot lighter, a lot more fit and just look better in clothes.

Lockdown has been challenging for everyone. And Samuel was no different. The enforced inactivity combined with indulgent eating caused him to gain weight.

This is what Samuel wanted to change as quickly and dramatically as possible.

“My main reason for joining was like most people, I put a lot of weight over lockdown and wanted to get rid of it as efficiently as possible.  

“Based on my previous experiences with P.T.s, I thought it might be the same as before. I would have the exercise from the P.T. but not so much of nutrition and it would probably be the same old you know ‘Here are the exercises. You need to do those, and everything will be fine’.”  


Samuel’s experience U.P. was radically different to any other trainer he had worked with before.

“When I got Covid, one of the key benefits that I had to my recovery was that I’ve lost so much weight and was a lot fitter.   

“I think that aided in my recovery and made it a lot quicker than it ultimately could have been. I definitely think I lost about 19kg, and the training, discipline, and the increased fitness level definitely helped me through that period of time.”  

Over 21 weeks, both in the gym and working virtually, Samuel lost a total of 19kg (42lbs).

The difference he can see in the mirror has been mind-blowing. But working with U.P. has not just transformed his body but also boosted his confidence levels in his day-to-day life


“One of the first feelings I felt when I saw those photos was embarrassment just in how big I had become.   

“When you put the two photos side by side, there is a drastic change in between the two. I’m absolutely elated with the results that I had afterwards.  

“Before, I was relatively confident, but since seeing a transformation, I’m a lot more confident and a lot more alert as well. It is a completely different person to how I was before.”  

Samuel isn’t the only person to noticed the night-and-day change. His results have turned heads with his friends and family too.

“My friends and family noticed two things — my face going from a round, fat face to a nice slimmer face, and going from having a stomach or a bare belly to having a six-pack. Those are two significant things that people commented on.”
