38-year-old Lee wanted to push his body to the limit and see what he was capable of.

After lockdowns in the UK put an end to his regular fitness routine, Lee began to gain weight and lose sight of the lean physique that he desperately wanted.

Passionate about fitness and seeking to unlock his full potential, he was yet to find a trainer or gym which matched his ambition and constant drive to improve.

After partnering with Ultimate Performance, Lee has built an incredible physique crowned by six-pack abs that has eclipsed anything he thought possible.

Lee believes the best bit is the wealth of knowledge on real-world training and nutrition principle he has built that he says feels like a ‘sports science degree’.

“I feel like I’ve come away with a degree in sports science. Rather than just feeling like I’m training and going through the motions, I’ve come away with an experience. I’m a lot better educated to train and to generally look after myself.”

Here, Lee speaks about the way in which U.P. have directly focused on his targets and how his trainer has prioritised quality over quantity throughout his transformation.

  Ultimate Performance

What was your motivation to join Ultimate Performance?

I desperately wanted to get some sort of conditioning and a six-pack, and generally get into the best shape of my life. I’ve always loved training, but throughout lockdown not being able to go to gyms I lost my routine and found myself losing focus. I just felt a bit sluggish and needed to get back on track.

Going to the gym and keeping fit is something I’ve always loved doing and I really missed it throughout lockdown. Not being able to go consistently was difficult. I probably didn’t realise how much I’d missed it until I got back into the routine of training here.

 

What differences are there with U.P. compared to anywhere else you’ve trained in the past?

I think it’s the mindset and you practice what you preach. The staff at U.P. seem a lot more educated and always explain the method behind what they are doing with you. My trainer was able to motivate me, and he adapted my training in a way that kept me focused on my goals.

I adapted my daily routine to complement that, and I am now feeling a lot better about it. I generally feel healthier now, and it was all tied up for me to achieve these fitness goals that I’ve been after for a while.

But what would you say are the most powerful lessons you’ve learned about training are since you’ve been at U.P?

Training is about consistency, ensuring quality over quantity. I love that, because I feel like I’ve been paired with a trainer that matches my ambition for me to realise my goals. I take all those habits that I’ve been taught wherever I’m training now, whether it be here or on my own.

I also think it’s just awareness about my calorie intake and about the macro split. I know what works for me now and I’m able to manage it against the busy lifestyle that I’ve got. I was a bit daunted before, thinking, ‘am I going to be able to maintain it?’ It’s obviously a big part of the transformation but I really enjoyed it.

 

How did you find your U.P. trainer went above and beyond to help you achieve results?

It’s been fantastic working with U.P. My trainer has definitely been the best I have ever worked with. Fitness is a real passion of mine and I know it’s similar at U.P. We both take it very seriously and I just needed to be paired with somebody that would push me.

You guys live and breathe it and the knowledge is just second to none, so I was tapping into all that all the way along. I found that my trainer always knew how to push me at the right times or adapt things for me, so I appreciate that.

 

How would summarise your overall experience?

It’s an investment in yourself and every other aspect of your life benefits from you being your best self, I suppose. I’m a 100% satisfied. For me, I feel like I’ve come away with a degree in sports science. Rather than just feeling like I’m training and going through the motions, I’ve come away with an experience.

I’m a lot better educated to train and to generally look after myself. It’s everything I’d hoped it would be to be honest, because I wasn’t satisfied with the general commercial gyms. I wanted to do it and I want to do it right.
