What motivated you to start your own transformation with U.P.?

I came to U.P. to get in shape, strip fat and build some muscle. I was facing the obstacles that many people face. I’m a busy guy, working 14 hours a day, and I have two four-year-old girls.

I didn’t feel like there were enough hours in the day to work out properly. So, when you do work out for one hour, three times a week, you need to make sure it’s effective. That’s exactly what you get at U.P.

How impressed were you with the quality of your personal training sessions?

The quality of my training sessions at U.P. were superb – the attention to detail is second to none. I’ve been training for a good while, but my form is not what I thought it was.

The micro-adjustments to your elbow positioning, for example, are so important. Me and my trainer worked on disengaging my traps in shoulder exercises and made sure my deadlift technique was good, so I didn’t injure my back.

Tell us about the results you’ve seen in the time you’ve been working with your trainer.

In terms of changes in appearance, I dropped 13kg and lost 20cm around my waist. I’m thrilled with the way I look. We’ve worked on my chest which used to be quite small – that looks much better now.

I went on holiday about eight weeks in and I’m not the kind of guy who compares, but I was definitely the guy in the best shape around the pool. People were looking at me, which was a bit strange.

Have you had any compliments about your new physique?

My kids stopped calling me chubby, which was a big one, and people at work noticed too. After about four or five weeks, people asked me how I’d done it, what training plan I was following and what foods I ate.

How has your transformation made you feel about yourself?

I’m feeling much better, all of my clothes fit me again. My energy levels are higher and I’m a lot more confident taking my top off when I take my kids swimming.

I think the thing that hit me the hardest before U.P., was the fact that I wasn’t making any progress. I hated that feeling, so to see the shape I’m in now, I’m much happier.

What would you say to someone thinking about starting their own U.P. training program?

If you’re on the fence about joining U.P., just come down and check it out. Just think how much money you’ve spent on gym memberships and dieting, and look at the results you’ve achieved.
