Busy construction project manager Ross had always tried to keep in shape and maintain a fairly balanced diet, but he could not commit to a disciplined regime.

A hectic, unpredictable work schedule left Ross frustrated by his fitness plateau, causing him to feel uncomfortable and self-conscious in clothes he once loved.

Wanting to make a change before his self-esteem slipped lower, Ross embarked on an Ultimate Performance transformation, dropping 8kg (18 lbs) in just 13 weeks.

“I’ve got into a shape I didn’t think I could possibly get into.

“I started seeing muscles I’d never seen. If you invest your time, money and effort then you’ll see results.”

Prior to joining U.P., Ross was finding it increasingly difficult to obtain the results he wanted. Trying to balance a chaotic work schedule with seeing his fiancée left him time-poor, never finding the hours to work on himself physically or mentally.

With insecurities building, Ross began to grow increasingly more self-conscious, avoiding wearing certain clothes for fears that they didn’t look right on his body.

“I didn’t think I looked good, and I wasn’t happy with what I saw in the mirror.

“I’d trained for years before, but I always felt like I hit a wall and didn’t get the results I wanted.

“I wanted discipline and structure. I wanted to take my training to the next level.”

Despite trying and failing to achieve the physique of his dreams, Ross knew that he had to make some sacrifices.

Regularly going out with his friends was offering opportunities to eat and drink unhealthily, pushing him to re-examine how he lived his life.

“It was difficult at the beginning because I went out socialising a lot. When you sign up, you need to buy into it and learn to say ‘no’ to temptation.

“Before the transformation, my diet was okay – maybe not as good as I thought, in hindsight.

“I’d have weeks where I ate healthily and weeks where I didn’t. I wasn’t consistent.”

When he signed up with U.P., things began to rapidly fall into place. After previously being concerned that a diet plan would be complicated to keep track of, he quickly realised that was not the case.

A matter of weeks was all it took for Ross to start noticing a difference, getting him one step closer to the sculpted body he’d always longed for.

“I’d never been disciplined with my food. I’d never meal-prepped or tracked calories. It quickly showed me that it’s very easy to do, once you get into the routine. It doesn’t interrupt your life.

“After two or three weeks, you start seeing results. The discipline didn’t feel like a burden.”

One of the biggest impacts Ross noticed was on his work life. No longer feeling sluggish or unmotivated, he felt his enthusiasm for his profession grow in time with his biceps.

Previously, Ross used his busy job as an excuse not to train. Now, he fits his sessions smoothly around his schedule.

Thanks to being equipped with a trainer that wasn’t afraid to push him, Ross discovered potential he didn’t know lay within him, spurring him on towards his fitness milestones.

“I noticed my energy levels were up. I used to be a slow starter in the mornings. Training early helped me. I felt a lot more energised going into work.

“I felt like I was too busy at work, but that was just an excuse. Everyone can spare an hour in the morning. It’s something I can take forward in life.”

Since undertaking his U.P. journey, Ross is astounded at how much he has learned about nutrition.

Equipped with the very basics beforehand, he had no idea how to eat to sustain himself for long periods of time.

Previously feeling sluggish after breakfast, Ross now tracks and preps his food, allowing him to take pride in all that he eats.

“The biggest thing for me has been the education I’ve gained around my diet. It’s given me discipline and structure, and I can use that for the rest of my life.

“The diet side of things was a big thing. My energy levels were up due to not eating unhealthy foods. Before, I’d have a fairly healthy breakfast, but my afternoon meals weren’t healthy. I’d slump.”

When it comes to his confidence levels, Ross’ body image has soared. Boosted by a huge sense of achievement from completing his workouts in the mornings, Ross now feels comfortable in his clothes again.

“I got my training out of the way in the morning. It sets you up in the day and you get a sense of accomplishment.

“I now wear certain clothes I wouldn’t wear before.

“You start feeling the weight come off and you notice the changes. You feel better in clothes, and you feel more confident.”

For anybody sceptical about beginning their own U.P. transformation, Ross admits that he understands.

Gym walls plastered with toned, muscular bodies can be intimidating, but Ross instantly realised that the photos were the reality of dedication and commitment.

“I would recommend U.P. I know people are sceptical when they see the photos, whether the photos were a true reflection, but it 100% works.

“For anyone considering a transformation, if you’re apprehensive, my advice would be to just sign up. I debated it in my own head, set myself targets, but in the end, you need to just jump in.”
