Zrinka Loses 30kg in 20 Weeks to Feel Happy, Healthy and Confident Again

Losing an incredible 30kg has helped Zrinka become happier, healthier and more confident than ever.

She had struggled with her weight for years, piling on more than 45kg in the five years since she moved to London.

Unhappy with her body, she tried everything to lose the weight, but nothing worked, and she ended up gaining even more weight than before.

Feeling constantly tired, lethargic and low on energy, Zrinka went to the doctors for a check-up fearing she had diabetes – but what her GP found was dangerously high cholesterol levels.

This was the moment Zrinka decided she needed to make huge and lasting changes to her lifestyle, and she has never looked back since.

Despite never lifting weights before, in just 20 weeks she dropped three dress sizes and achieved her stunning 30kg transformation at Ultimate Performance London City, taking with her the knowledge to carry on her fitness journey for life.

Zrinka explains the diet mistakes that had held her weight loss back in the past, and what changed when she came to U.P. to lose the weight and radically change her lifestyle for good.

Where did your transformation begin?

 

I started about 20 weeks ago. Why I decided to do this was because I was in quite bad shape. I had gained 45kg since moving to London in about four or five years.

 

It was really bad shape. I was very unhealthy. I was very uncomfortable with my body; it was just not me.

 

I started looking at U.P. and I found an ad in the British Airways magazine and I kept on looking at it every time I was flying.

Then I contacted U.P. but I saw it was ridiculously expensive so I thought ‘I’ll do something on my own.’ Of course, I failed quite miserably.

Eventually, I decided to do that. Then here I am today and I’m happy I’m doing it.

 

What was diet and lifestyle like before you started at U.P.?

 

It was quite bad. My husband is a vegetarian, so I started eating carbs. Everything was carb-based. It was pasta, rice, pasta, rice, all the time. No protein whatsoever.

It was very greasy and rich food. I guess it was one of the reasons it made me gain the extra 45kg.

How did being overweight affect your life?

 

I was very lethargic. My work requires lots of travelling long hours, so I was just constantly tired and out of breath. I didn’t have any energy for anything.

 

I just didn’t want to do anything. I would come home around 9 pm and go straight to bed. It was pretty bad.

 

What were your motivations for finally taking action taking that first step with U.P.?

 

I think it was about May time, after failing miserably on my own diet. I went to the GP to check if I had diabetes because you never know with gaining so much weight in such a short time. I wanted to see why I was gaining so fast.

I was completely ignoring the fact that I was eating so many carbs and trying to blame everything on something else – that it was not me that caused it, but something else. Something genetic.

Luckily, I did not have diabetes, but I had ridiculously high cholesterol. It was way off the charts.

 

It got me quite scared. I thought ‘I’m going to die of a heart attack.’ It’s not normal. I’m 33 years old, I shouldn’t be living life as I am.

 

Then I decided, that’s it! I can’t do it on my own. I need professional help and someone to guide me.

 

What other areas of your life do you think U.P. has helped you with?

 

Everywhere. That hour that I do, it’s like ‘me’ time. We all have stressful jobs and personal life, so having that hour to focus on myself, it’s amazing. It helps me mentally, first of all.

And I have so much more energy. I think I’m a lot more productive at work. I’m no longer lethargic. I don’t struggle with heavy breathing when I go up stairs. It’s just amazing what U.P. has done for me.

What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing a transformation at U.P.?

 

Do it! Don’t wait. Don’t think about money. Just do it right away. Because basically I started in August, but I first contacted U.P. in the November before.

 

In that time, I actually gained another 10kg. If I’d have started when I wanted to initially, and not been so cheap, I would have had a much better start than I did when I actually started.

What is next for you?

 

I will definitely continue doing what I’m doing. I still have 20kg to lose. It might take me six months, eight months, it doesn’t really matter.

But I definitely will continue doing what I’m doing. It’s put me on the right path. I definitely don’t want to go back to where I was.

I was given some advice – keep some of my big clothes, because when I started I was size 20 and now I’m size 14.

Keeping something from that period nearby means you can always check and think ‘this is the place I never want to go back to.’

So I’m sure I will continue this for life.
