“Before I joined U.P., I never thought looking like I do was possible because I have a crazy job and always have client dinners. There was always a reason why getting in shape didn’t fit my lifestyle.

“I surprise myself every time I look in the mirror. I can’t believe this is how I look now. I’ve had a few other people commenting on my figure which has been a source of confidence for me.

“I now feel like I’m in much more control of my life and I’m a lot more confident in myself.”

Here, Skylar speaks about how she got in shape despite working long hours, how her lifestyle has opened a handful of new opportunities, and why she feels the best version of herself at 33.

 

What was your motivation to take the first step and partner with U.P.?

I first came through the doors at U.P. because 2021 was coming to an end. I moved to Amsterdam in 2020 – but the pandemic meant everything was closed so I never really got into a fitness routine. By the end of summer, travel opened back up and I was returning to work, but my health was nowhere near where I wanted it to be. I knew I needed a change.

I had heard about U.P. online, so I decided to give it a try. I wanted to look better in the mirror and feel like I fit my clothes. I was at the stage where my clothes were very tight and I wasn’t happy with how they looked on me.

How did you feel about yourself before you began working with your U.P. trainer?

When I looked in the mirror, I always rationalised the situation. I would always tell myself “it’s because of Covid” or “I don’t have time to work out”.

I made all these excuses in my head and I didn’t feel good, but I would always tell myself it was okay. I almost felt uncomfortable and like I was hiding in my clothes because of my body.

I would try to wear things that were more flattering, which is a lot harder to do when your body isn’t the way you want it to look.

Especially at the end of summer when everyone was wearing swimming suits, I didn’t feel confident being around other people.

How do you feel about yourself now that you’ve completed your transformation?

I surprise myself every time I look in the mirror, I can’t believe this is how I look now. I’ve had a few other people commenting on my figure which has been a source of confidence for me, compared to the discomfort I felt before.

I also feel like I have so much more control of my life. Before I joined U.P., I never thought looking like I do would be possible because I have a crazy job and always have client dinners.

There was always a reason why getting in shape didn’t fit my lifestyle. I now feel like I can transform my body whatever my circumstances and be successful in every part of my life at the same time.

I’ve learnt that you can have a good career and take control of your health at the same time.

 

Have you had any compliments about the way you look now?

There’s been so many, especially in the past month or so. I’ve recently seen people that I hadn’t seen in a while who really noticed the difference.

I had a client who I’d most recently seen before I started my transformation. I saw him when he was in town and his jaw was on the floor!

He noticed how much weight I had lost straight away. Colleagues at work have also pulled me to one side and told me how great I look.

My family and friends are proud of me and I’ve really inspired them too, which is nice.

How has your U.P. training program benefitted your life?

I now feel like I’m in much more control of my life and boast much more confidence. Getting in shape has had this magnetising effect – it’s almost like a conversation starter.

Some of my friends and various people I’ve met have wanted to go on walks, so we’ve agreed to go together. We now have a walking club and do a lot of things together that keep us active.

That feels like you’re creating more connections over something that’s not drinking or going out, which I’ve found really nice. I’ve been pulling people into my circle that are supportive and I think I’ve inspired them to live healthier, more confident lives. It really is a snowball effect which is hard to describe.
