Gillian’s self-esteem was at an all-time low.

What motivated you to start training with U.P.?

I’d always followed Ultimate Performance on social media and been in complete awe of the transformations.

I wanted to make this the year I invested in myself. I had always wanted to do it and decided there was no better time than the present.

How did you feel before you started your personal training program?

I put on weight after the pandemic because I spent a lot of time working from home. I wasn’t exercising or moving much, which meant I gained a significant amount of weight in quite a short period of time.

That knocked my confidence massively and I began to feel quite low about myself. I felt myself hiding away because I was self-conscious about how I looked.

What did you think when you saw your before and after side by side?

What’s really evident from the first picture we took is how miserable I am. You can see it across my face and how I’m standing. I think it’s clear to see that I felt very low about myself.

Compare that to now, I feel more upbeat in myself and I can see clear definition in my arms and shoulders.

I never thought that was possible. I always hid that part of my body, so the fact I can stand tall looking like that gives me so much confidence.

Do you believe your transformation has helped you feel confident again, Gillian?

It’s been life-changing. I’ve started to wear bold colours a lot more and I’m no longer hiding in baggy clothes.

My trainer has helped me achieve things that I would never have even had the confidence to try before I joined U.P.

The whole journey has given me confidence and helped me feel great in my bikini on holiday. I’m convinced this experience will benefit me and my family for the rest of my life.

What would you say was the biggest change in your time working with your trainer?

I really started to believe in myself more than anything. I realised that it was possible to be fit and healthy, which I never thought I’d be capable of.

I can’t compare it to anything else I’ve ever done – the difference is night and day.

The experience, the intimacy, the expertise, the one-to-one support – it’s been brilliant.

How would you compare yourself now to when you first walked through the doors at U.P.?

When I first started working with my trainer, I wasn’t physically or mentally strong.

Today, my strength has drastically improved, and I’ve also realised I’m thinking much clearer. I’ve got so much more focus on whatever I do, which has been one of the most important parts of my transformation.

I never believed in myself before. Now, I’m much more confident in what I can achieve and I believe I can improve my health. That’s extremely important to me.
