Here, Diana speaks about her rapid self-improvement in the gym, how her family didn’t recognise her and the flexibility of her U.P. plan which worked around her unpredictable shifts at work.
What motivated you to partner with Ultimate Performance and transform your health?
My diet before I came to U.P. was poor. It was mostly made up of sugar, fast foods and fizzy drinks. I was living an unhealthy lifestyle and struggled to do simple things like walking. Overall, I just felt very unfit. Then during lockdown, I gained 15kg and quickly started to think, “what happened to me?”
I lost all my confidence and none of my clothes fit me anymore. I knew I needed to do something about it because I couldn’t keep living like this. When I went for a walk, I would have to catch my breath which I knew wasn’t normal for someone my age.
How did the way your body looked affect you?
When I looked at the pictures I’d taken on my holiday, I hated them all. I just wanted to hide and hoped we wouldn’t take any more photos. I told myself I needed to change – I couldn’t keep going like this because I wasn’t happy and it wasn’t who I was.
Did you have any experience of training before you joined U.P.?
No, none at all. I’d never been to the gym before, so I was very nervous and worried about what we would do. Plus, I often had to work 12-hour shifts, so my trainer and I had to work around that. A lot of the time I’d come into the gym feeling tired, but after my workout, I would always feel full of energy.
How has your transformation affected your figure and your self-confidence?
Honestly, I look so different. It has completely exceeded my expectations of what I wanted to accomplish. I’ve achieved so much working with U.P. – all my clothes fit me now and I’m thrilled with my progress. I started to feel nervous before my photoshoot, but the photographer and trainer were there with me. I had my make-up done and felt confident again for the first time in over a year. I’ve kept looking at my photos again and again.
How have your friends and family reacted to your transformation?
Everybody was shocked, especially from the photo shoot pictures. Some people couldn’t even believe it was me. Some friends who hadn’t seen me for a long time were shocked by my before and after photos. I told them they needed to try U.P! Not only have I seen differences on the outside, but on the inside as well. The change has been massive.
How would you compare yourself now to six months ago?
Six months ago, I was very self-conscious. My transformation has completely changed me – I’m now the best version of myself. When I came to U.P., I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t squat, my balance wasn’t great and I was unhappy with myself. I noticed incredible changes after the first and second weeks, which was a fantastic feeling and motivated me to push myself even harder.
