The team photoshoot was finished in a flash. Six weeks of all that planning, measuring, tracking, and shrinking…and it was over in a split second!
What I was surprised about was that I was nervous getting started! I convinced myself that I felt bloated (cue drama queen), but my morning weight was 57.9kg (over 7kg down from my starting point). Okay, maybe I’m not that bloated.
So what did my day look like? I had some magnesium the night before to make sure I slept solidly, and went to bed promptly at 9 p.m., and woke up the next morning at 8 a.m. (thank you, magnesium!).
I took my time getting my hair and make-up done for once, and got myself to the gym where the photographer was already getting set up. Next thing I knew, it was my turn to strut my stuff.
I’ll be honest, I’m really pleased with how this whole process went, and I am SO proud of myself. I’m a very goal-oriented person (surprise, surprise), which meant that having the structure and slowly seeing my body looking better and better was addictive!
I’ve never, ever been this lean before, and I had no idea that I could get here! I love how I look and feel.
What’s harder to come to terms with is that I don’t ‘feel’ as strong, and actually feel petite under a bar loaded up with plates – which is unusual for me!
GET INCREDIBLE RESULTS LIKE THESE IN A MATTER OF WEEKS WITH U.P.
This was the hardest part about the shred for me, fearing that I was going to lose strength and not make progress in that department.
During the whole process, and apart from the final week, I was still doing my powerlifting strength program. In a calorie deficit, this meant that I was hungrier on certain days, and my energy levels would drop.
I learnt quickly to space my meals out better so that I had more to eat post-workout, and to make sure I didn’t have to grocery shop on those days!
Doing this process while being new to Los Angeles, and with a new team, has been good for me.
Everyone has been so supportive of each other, measuring each other weekly, sharing in each other’s successes and talking about what our first post-shoot meal was going to be.
I never once doubted that I wouldn’t get into the best shape of my life. It has worked for so many of our clients around the world at Ultimate Performance, why wouldn’t it work for me?
I have had the support of the entire LA team, as well as the trainers from around the world from the U.P. UK team, to U.P. Singapore, U.P. Sydney, and of course, my team back home at U.P. Hong Kong.
Every single aspect of my ‘shred’ journey was looked after and monitored – from my macronutrients to my steps, cravings and hunger levels, training, sleep quality, body fat percentage, and lean muscle mass.
This meant that everything that could affect my transformation was accounted for, and that there was ZERO GUESSWORK. It is all simply about CONSISTENCY.
There was no special formula with what I did to get super lean – I ate food from the land, trained properly with weights, and did minimal amounts of cardio.
The key is that I had the best personal trainers in the world with me every step of the way. My result speaks for itself.
