Tom’s 10kg (22lb) transformation inspired by James Bond actor Daniel Craig

Staying fit was always a priority for Tom as an ex-military man.

He had always done spinning and adventure races, but working as a train driver his life became sedentary and his fitness hit the buffers.

This was until he read a newspaper article about actor Daniel Craig getting in shape for the new James Bond film in his 50s.

Around the same age, 51-year-old Tom was inspired to start his own transformation journey – and put his faith in Ultimate Performance to get results.

Over 21 weeks, Tom lost 10kg (22lbs) and built a lean, strong and muscular physique.

“I had all the checks and was told I was 23% body fat. I was shocked, and then as the weeks progressed, it dropped down to 10.2%.  
“It’s a good feeling because I was carrying around all of that excess which I didn’t need on me.”   

Before he started at U.P., Tom says his diet and lifestyle had been holding him back.

“My diet was non-existent. I do the cardio, spinning and I was into my adventure races.  
“I always had in my head as long as I keep fit I could eat anything and I didn’t realise till I came here, that the diet is a massive part, but it was only after looking at the photographs of the ‘before’ do I see quite a tubby little bloke stood there, which, at the time, I thought I looked normal.

“I read an article on the last Bond film to be made and how they put the main character through a training program, and he was about my age as well, so I thought if they could do that, so I thought ‘It’s now or never!’” 

Feeling inspired and motivated to see what he could achieve with U.P., he signed up for a transformation program.

Finding it tough at first, he quickly settled into the rhythm and really started to enjoy this radical new approach to training and nutrition.

Tom discovered what was missing at other gyms – a highly personalised approach built on partnership with a world-class trainer who was invested in his success.

“When I came in here, I didn’t know how to move or how to lift. The strength has come with the training but the beginning was just a bit of a blur because it hurt.  
“I didn’t particularly enjoy this at first and I thought I’m paying out whatever I’m paying, and I’m suffering, but you get bitten by the bug, and I got to a point where if I didn’t come in here for three days, I was starting to cluck, and I wanted to get back in the gym.”  

Tom saw and experienced phenomenal changes in his body while training here at U.P. to the point where he needed a new wardrobe.

His drastic transformation attracted the attention of not only his family but also his ex-military mates who were eager to know how he had pulled it off.

“When I dropped down a 10% body fat, I put the ‘before and after’ photo on Facebook.  
“My ex-army mates were pulling me a bit but then I got a couple of private messages, astounded, and they wanted to know who I was working with, what I was doing and how I managed to get from the beginning to where I am now in 10 weeks.”  

The whole experience at U.P. has helped Tom discover the key ingredients to physical body transformation and has helped him become better in other aspects of life.

“I look a hell of a lot leaner than I did when I first walked through the door.  
“The only downside was I didn’t take into account I had to go out and buy a new wardrobe of clothes, especially after I went from a 34-inch waist down to a 30.  
“I feel fitter and healthier than I did, so all in all, the experience has been good and I don’t want to walk away from whatever I’ve accomplished here.”
