Three celebrity brothers, three bodies, three results.

They say all good things come in three’s but the jaw-dropping transformations of the Thomas Brothers took twelve weeks of incredible mental strength, dedication and commitment from the celebrity siblings.

We spoke with former Coronation Street star, Ryan Thomas after he completed his 12 weeks of turning his former self into a chiseled sculpture of muscle in just 3 months.

Ryan's 12 Week Transformation | Ultimate Performance

So, first of all, why Ultimate Performance?

It started with a friend of mine, Catherine Tyldseley (plays Eve in Coronation Street) who was working closely with Nick Mitchell. I heard a lot about Nick and knew it was a famous name within the business.

I was also seeing results with Cath from where she started without UP, the word was spreading around, so I thought it was about time I delved into this high level world of fitness.

Did you have any doubts or concerns prior to starting your personal training program?

Before I started the 12 week transformation, there was a lot of pressure because you are constantly in the spotlight, there to be judged and you are promoting the fact that you are about to embark on this 12 weeks.

My brothers and I did this on purpose because we needed that added pressure of knowing we had to succeed, making it a public thing meant that there was no backing out.

So yes, the nerves were there for all of us to achieve an incredible transformation and we put a lot of trust in UP to help us deliver those results.

What results did you want to achieve?

We all had an individual goal. For me, leaving Coronation Street meant I needed to be in the best shape of my life to progress onto the next stage of my career.

Adam had put training in the background for a while after having his little boy, Teddy, so he knew it was something he had to tap into, he knew he had let himself go and he wouldn’t mind me saying that.

Scott is currently on Love Island so he needed to be able to present himself in the best light possible for a show like that.

In your opinion, what do you think makes Ultimate Performance different to other personal trainers?

I’m never going to put down anyone else’s training because I’ve had some great trainers along the way but technique-wise, there isn’t any better way than training with UP.

One thing I have taken from U.P. is learning how to control my workout, using the right muscles and really making the most out of every single training session.

It feels like everything you do is for a reason; it’s very hard to describe unless you experience it for yourself and it’s something I will keep telling everyone just how important that is.

What would you say the most challenging part of your transformation was?

I found the eating and the diet intense. I wouldn’t like to tell Matt this, but there would be times where we would fall off the wagon but feeling so guilty about it, you would train ever harder to make up for it.

The diet is so important and if you are going to slip off for a day, just make sure you pick up where you left off and hit it even harder.

Just remember, you only have 12 weeks, so be disciplined and you can achieve any goal you want. Between the three of us, I think we did that.

What was your motivation throughout the entirety of your transformation?

The main thing that pushed me throughout was that for once in my life, I was using being in the public eye to my advantage.

It’s so easy to drop off and say ‘I’m not going to finish this’ but we all had that extra added pressure of everyone knowing and asking us about the 12 weeks all of the time.

You don’t necessarily have to be in the public eye to feel this way, but the more people you tell about it, the more chance you have of succeeding if everyone is asking about what you’re doing.

If you’ve set yourself a goal, tell as many people as possible to add that extra pressure.

What’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learnt during these 12 weeks?

Discipline was a huge deal for us. We all live in a world of non-stop nine to five jobs, but if you commit to the 12 week transformation, you have to say ‘I’m going to be here at a certain time’, like you would do with work.

The hardest thing for us to deal with and get our head around was that we couldn’t be 5-10 minutes late and if we need to be at the gym for 9, we’ll be there at 9.

Tell us about your nutrition. How simple was your diet to follow?

Honestly, I’ll tell you that the first couple of weeks were difficult; my energy levels were low, I was ratty, tired and finding having to prepare meals was difficult.

I like to eat out all the time and it became a real chore at first. But as time goes on your body starts to program itself to a new way of life and to the food you are eating and putting inside of your body.

Then you start to connect with it and you start to sleep better, you wake up easier and the afternoon meals would fuel the rest of my day whilst I was filming at Corrie.

And your results… how thrilled are you with what you’ve achieved?

U.P. has opened a lot of doors for me, starting with the way people are looking at me. You will always have your haters every now and then but that’s just because they want to look as good as you so I don’t see it as a negative.

Now all three of us are in good shape, we can happily go on the beach and feel comfortable which is so important, a lot of people forget about that.

I’ve had that feeling of not being in good shape and my confidence has been lacking, which you don’t want. Now I feel cool about myself, I feel motivated and I can put myself out there more because of the way I look.

It may sound really vain but there’s more to it than that, it’s a mental and physical thing that you go through.

Would you be willing to share you best advice to other people considering starting their own transformation?

For anyone considering the 12 week transformation, the best advice I could give would be to put everything you can into that 12 weeks. It’s only 12 weeks.

It may sound like a long time but it’s just 12 weeks of your life to put the biggest and hardest effort you’ve ever put in before.

If you drink and it means you don’t drink, just do it for 3 months and you may never need to do it again but if you do, it may have a knock on effect on the rest of your life.

It can be a new way of life for you after U.P. but try and tell as many people as you can.

How has your transformation made you feel, both mentally and physically?

It’s crazy, it’s our first holiday away and even my girlfriend is saying I’m in good shape and hearing it from your partner commenting on how good you look… it makes you feel good you know?

And that’s just one element of the ‘feel good’ factor, there’s plenty of it.

You’ll not necessarily get a compliment from someone, but you will feel it walking down that beach, getting in the pool and seeing someone else next to you and thinking how good he looks but also thinking, I’m in similar nick as him.

I’ve never felt that way before. I’m actually thinking, ‘you’re in really really good nick… but I’m in better nick!’. I shouldn’t be so cocky, maybe U.P. has done this to me. (laughs)

What would you to someone who doubts they’re capable of achieving these kind of results with U.P?

If you are looking at some of the U.P. transformations and think to yourself… “Am I capable”?’

I am talking from my experience and saying ‘yes’ but let me tell you this: whether or not you have the same genetics as me or not, you are going to get a result that you have never seen before in yourself, that is inevitable, that is going to happen.

You might be better than me, you might be just as good as me but you will see a massive result in who you are as a person from when you first came in and when you leave in 12 weeks and what you have to remember is that it’s a knock on effect for the rest of your life.

You’ll get to a position or physique and you will be set up for the next journey of your life, you will get more out of this 12 weeks by making this a part of your life.

I really feel that U.P.’s transformation can change your life, your mental health, for work, maybe it’s a new hobby, something that interests you.

How did you manage to fit your training into your hectic filming schedule?

I know what a busy schedule can look like, going from 7.30am in the morning to 7.30pm at night. I would be starting at 5.30am in the morning to train at U.P., which I know sounds crazy but you have to be committed and get up at those times in the morning.

It just means going to bed earlier, so for 12 weeks, get yourself in that routine, be disciplined, put yourself in the driving seat for once. It’s so easy to say that, sat here now but I’ve done it and I know that it’s possible.

I know if you get in early enough, you can train and forget about it for the rest of the day, eat well and go to bed.

Just give yourself 12 weeks of complete discipline. That work schedule has work around your fitness, it has to become part of your work, tell your wife I’m not just doing this as a bit of fun, I’m doing this because it’s part of my work.

I know Adam has done that with his little boy at home as sometimes it can become stressful with your partners at home but when you’re not feeling comfortable with yourself you have to put yourself first.

Make that a priority for you rather than everybody else which may sound a bit selfish but I feel it’s important.

And finally, why would you recommend Ultimate Performance?

When you walk in, you know straight away what you are getting. It’s an impressive brand. The boys themselves (the personal trainers) have an aura about them and it’s a real new way of training that I’ve never seen before.

U.P. is not like any other training.

It’s a disciplined atmosphere but there’s also a laugh and a joke at the end of your session. It’s not as strict and scary as you would think but the results they achieve are phenomenal.

I got to a point where I was excited to come to UP, it was an exciting place to be.

I felt good coming, but I felt even better coming out.
