Sebastien wanted to feel proud of his physique and be more active with his children, but never felt like he had time.
His demanding role as Head of Sales in financial services combined with the responsibilities of fatherhood meant prioritising his health was hard.
Even though he was only 38, he would feel lethargic and struggle to keep up with his children’s fast-paced activities.
Knowing where to start to change his health was tough – he had no clue about calories and never knew the best way to exercise for his body was weight training.
However, after seeing his wife’s impressive 20kg transformation at Ultimate Performance after her pregnancy, Sebastian instantly felt confident this was the place he could achieve his goals too.
Now he has lost 15kg, feels more present and engaged with his children, and has proven to himself that it’s never ‘too late’ to get in shape.
“I knew that I wanted to do it one day when I would have time after my children were born. I just wanted to get into the best shape of my life.
“One day my older son said, ‘papa, you are really, really strong.’ That was from a four-year-old boy, so I just feel proud to have done something serious about my health so I could enjoy my family duties going forward.
“I just regret not having discovered U.P. before and not having done something about my life to be able to reap those benefits from the journey.”
Here, Sebastien speaks about how he was able to build the body he wanted despite being a busy professional and father, and how his U.P. trainer has given him knowledge for life on resistance training.
What was your motivation to join Ultimate Performance?
My motivation for signing up with U.P. was mainly inspired by seeing my wife going through a first transformation after pregnancy, so I’d seen the results in real life.
I’d also seen the results of my brother-in-law, so I knew that I wanted to do it one day when I would have time after my children were born. I just wanted to get into the best shape of my life, so I decided now was the right time for me.
Can you describe what your diet and lifestyle was like before U.P?
My diet and lifestyle before starting U.P. were fairly poor. I would probably say I was ignorant about controlling my calories and I didn’t know anything about macros and what they meant.
I wouldn’t say I was unhealthy, but I wasn’t controlling what I was eating and didn’t know whether items were good or bad. I have a sweet tooth as well, so I guess I wasn’t really controlling that and my diet went a bit out of control.
In terms of sports and working out, I did a lot of cardio, kickboxing, running and swimming, but I hadn’t done any resistance training at all. I didn’t know the benefits of it, but after working with U.P it has become part of my journey and daily exercise.
How did you feel about yourself before you started your transformation, and would you recommend the process to others?
I just felt I wasn’t healthy. I thought I had missed out a little bit on getting the best out of a good lifestyle, by being healthy, exercising and having a good diet. I realised that it’s not too late, I’m 38 years old now so it’s never too late.
I would recommend joining U.P. and to change your life for the better. I just regret not having discovered U.P. before and not having done something about my life to be able to reap those benefits from the journey.
Do you now feel you are able to be a better father to your children following your transformation?
Definitely. Because I’ve got two young kids, it can be very demanding. It’s obviously a pleasure and a joy but it’s very demanding at times. Before working with U.P. I would often feel sluggish and couldn’t keep up with everything that comes with being a father. After joining U.P. and even throughout the journey, I felt more energised.
Although you work a lot and you are in a calorie deficit, you still have a great deal of energy and you really feel the benefits straight away. I just felt that I could enjoy time with my family and my kids, and I was feeling better very quickly.
One day my older son said, “papa, you are really, really strong.” That was from a four-year-old boy, so I just feel proud to have done something serious about my health so I could enjoy my family duties going forward.
What would you say surprised you the most during your time at U.P?
What surprised me the most during my time at U.P. was how quickly you feel the benefits. I was discovering new things from the whole U.P. methodology, my trainer and everyone around me.
Everything ranging from the exercises to the diet, I was learning so much every day. Although you don’t train every day you can message your trainer whenever you like, so any question you have they can answer straight away.
Outside of U.P., have you had any comments about your transformation, and do you feel better about yourself in general?
I got a lot of feedback about my weight loss. We do a lot of FaceTime calls and have a lot of professional meetings on video. I would often get asked if I’d lost weight because you could see it on my face very quickly. I then started to explain to those interested, and I was obviously very proud to share what I was going through and the journey I had been on.
What would you say to somebody just like you with a young family and busy job who doesn’t think a body transformation is achievable?
I would say you have to give it a go because you can’t do it without the knowledge and the expertise of the U.P. trainers. If you simply look at the results and the before and after photos, these are real-life cases.
There’s lots of information on the website and the U.P. staff are very approachable, so you can get information easily. This is the only way to achieve the best transformation possible and get into the best shape of your life. It’s the best investment of time and effort that I’ve spent so far, and I’m just regretting that I haven’t come across U.P. before. I would’ve done it many years before.
