A new life in Miami gave 43-year-old Richard a lot to look forward to.
Warm weather, world-famous beaches, and exciting new career opportunities.
But there was still just one thing weighing him down – his appearance.
He was a million miles away from the “ripped” beach body that he really wanted. He knew he didn’t stand a chance of feeling confident if he carried on neglecting good food and exercise.

Richard had lost weight before, but he describes this as a whole new level of fitness. Even people in his local gym are asking how he’s made so much progress in so little time in his forties.
In this Q&A below, he reveals the magic behind his success training alongside U.P.
So Richard, what were your expectations going into the program?
I had seen Ultimate Performance before. I’d seen it on the internet. And I looked up every possible review I could find. I could not find a bad word about the place.
You are moving to Miami soon, and you said that you wanted to look ripped for the beach. Do you feel that you accomplished that goal?
Oh, yeah. Yeah. I definitely look ripped. I was working out in my own gym the other day, and someone actually approached me and was like, dude, what are you doing? You look really ripped. He’s like, I can’t do that. How did you do that?
I think it’s reached a level where people can tell just by looking at it, you know? It’s obvious that I’ve reached that level of fitness.
My girlfriend has been impressed too, which is nice. She’s been very supportive during my transformation.
Your number one priority was to have visible abs by the end of this transformation. Now you definitely have them. How does this make you feel, having accomplished this?
It feels pretty amazing, honestly.
I remember lifting weights, pulling the fat on my stomach down, and thinking, “One day, I’ll be able to see this.” That never happened, though.
I’ve worked out a lot, done diets, tried different things, but yeah, this is the first time I’ve reached that level of leanness.
It feels great to finally see it, you know? To look at yourself and think, “Wow, I look really strong.”
I never had the proper framework to get into great shape. How do you think I’ve helped you with this aspect?
There’s no way in hell I could have done this on my own or following Instagram trainers. The diet has been massively important, but the form was the number one thing for me. It was far and away the most important thing.
Every time my form was off, it was corrected, allowing me to get more out of the exercises. I was pushed way past anything I would ever push myself to do. And I didn’t injure myself at all.
I had concerns and different things from lifting weights over the years. I had different worries about injuring or re-injuring myself. But none of that happened which was incredible.
I was pushed to my limits with a proper focus on form – that was crucial.
Tell us how different you feel now you’ve completed your transformation.
I’ve lost weight before and I prefer being lighter, but this is a whole new level of fitness. I feel so much more comfortable in my skin. I’ve also noticed the tendonitis in my quads has improved.
I’m in my forties, so that would bother me when I was trying to work out in the past. I haven’t noticed that at all since I’ve been training. So yeah, generally, I feel more comfortable in my own skin.
Prior to training with Ultimate Performance, I wasn’t moving anywhere near enough. I now feel transformed – I’m keeping active and my posture is a lot better.
How much stronger do you feel, Richard?
I’m so much stronger now. I used to grab light weights off a rack and I’d sometimes feel a pain in my rotator cuff or in my back. I’d feel a pinch, and I wasn’t sure if I could handle it. I felt like I might hurt myself or something.
I just feel mechanically more sound and stronger. You know, little things like suddenly having to sprint or run or pick something up.
I feel I can, and I feel a whole lot stronger.
Would you recommend U.P. to other people serious about getting in shape?
If you’re serious about getting in shape, I would say just do it.
If you follow the plan, it’s going to work. That’s what I expected when I did this. The methodology is sound.
