Feeling happy and confident with your body is priceless for any woman ā thatās exactly what model and pro gamer Chloe discovered at Ultimate Performance.
Even as a model, Chloe says the natural body confidence that comes from feeling comfortable in your own skin was always lacking.
Being in front of the camera lens every day on gaming streaming platform Twitch, where she has nearly 3 million views, meant her appearance was scrutinised more than most.
Chloe, who appeared on Britainās Next Top Model, had always seen her weight fluctuate wildly and didnāt know how to change her āskinny fatā body for good.
A committed vegan, Chloe has always been health conscious but wanted to really be able to understand her body, control her diet and shape her figure the way she wanted.
Thatās exactly what she achieved in 10 weeks working with her trainer, Justin, at Ultimate Performance Manchester ā an incredible new figure, a new-found confidence and the satisfaction of proving vegans really can build muscle.
āI think this is the fittest Iāve ever ever looked. Iām completely different confidence-wise.
āIn general, Iām just happy with myself. In the beginning I wasnāt. I was self-conscious and worried about what people thought.
āThatās the main thing ā being who you are and embracing the way you look.
āI found a way I can sustain a healthy lifestyle and still enjoy things.ā
Before starting her transformation at Ultimate Performance, 23-year-old Chloe says she had always been slim.
Not your stereotypical gamer, she was also very active and mindful about her health and fitness.
But her weight was always up and down and she felt like she had no control over it.
Her figure even earned her a nickname by her followers on her Twitch stream.
āIf you know who āSlendermanā is, they call me āSlenderwomanā because Iām so gangly and have very long arms, long legs and have always been kind of slim.
āEven when I felt more chubby, I was never really big. I was more skinny fat.
āI have never really had a fixed weight. Iāve always fluctuated.ā
Life in the spotlight hadnāt always been easy for Chloe and live streaming and gaming for up to 10 hour a day can take its toll.
āItās a tough job. Youāre constantly having to put a smile on your face. You want to make people happy so you constantly have to be happy.
āYou donāt want to go on there and make people sad. They come to your stream to have fun.
āSome say itās really hard when youāre having a down day and you have to go online and make sure youāre entertaining.
āYou get a lot of critique from people too. You can get a lot of horrible comments. You also get nice people too, but you have to be thick-skinned.ā
Chloeās motivation for starting her transformation came from wanting to look and feel great ready for summer and a trip to Las Vegas.
āI have so much going on in the summer, I wanted to feel good. I didnāt have the biggest self-confidence.
āFor me, I gain fat in my stomach area. I canāt pick and choose where I gain it. Thatās always made me self-conscious from wearing a crop top or a vest top.
I looked bigger than I was because I gained all the fat in that area. My legs were skinny. My arms were skinny. But then I would have a belly.
āBut now Iāve actually been able to get my stomach and Iām proud.
āIf I wear a swimming costume, Iām not self-conscious at all. I donāt care. Thatās the first time Iāve ever felt like that.ā
Chloe came to U.P. to get accountability from a trainer to achieve her goals but also learn about the training and nutrition that suited her best.
Particularly on diet, Chloe wanted to fine-tune her vegan diet and get the balance of carbs, proteins and fats just right.
āIt was hard to find what balance of carbs to have with fats and proteins. But now Iāve found a way that works for me.
āMy diet hasnāt changed that much. I eat more protein, a little less carbs and more fat.
āIām not used to eating as much fat. Iāve been things like nuts and chia seeds. I eat more fat now. It helps balance your hormones.ā
Chloeās trainer started her off with an elimination diet which helped her pinpoint foods that were causing her bloating.
āThe other issue is I get IBS. I canāt have high FODMAP vegetables.
Justin has helped me figure out what foods my stomach can digest and I havenāt been bloated or had stomach pains for like two months now.
āFirst month was trial and error with what worked and didnāt work for me. Now Iāve found a balance with my diet where my stomach is fine.
āItās insane that Iāve been able to do that and find out the foods that work for me.ā
Chloe really stepped up her training under the guidance of her U.P. trainer.
The intensity and precision of the sessions was something sheād never experienced before.
āYes, I had weight trained before, but it was never as intense as it was here (at U.P.).
āHere they push you through those last reps and it makes a massive difference.
āYou get through those last two reps that you physically wouldnāt have been able to do on your own.
āI had been going to the gym for about two years, but this is where I have seen a massive transformation.ā
Chloe always used to just focus on her glutes and lower body ā but here the full body workouts hit every muscle group going.
It wasnāt long before her workouts and nutrition were bearing results and developing impressive definition in her arms, shoulders and abs as well as her legs.
āThe first month I didnāt feel like I was changing. I was getting a bit slimmer here and there.
“But all of a sudden, around week 7, I suddenly got leaner and my abs started to show. Everything came at once! Then on from there, every day and every week it changes!ā
Chloe is amazed by the new look she has been able to achieve ā and her audience on Twitch have noticed too.
āIām not used to seeing myself with muscles. My shoulders pop the most.
āEverything on my body has really leaned out and even people on my stream have noticed it. āOh my gosh Chloe, youāre ripped!ā āCan you flex for us?!ā
āPeople from Twitch are like āwow, sheās done it and sheās a gamer.ā People are saying ācan you tell me how you do abs?ā Or āwhat exercises do you do?ā
āIāve even had guys messaging me saying āyouāve got my dream physique, and youāre a girl!āā
Itās had a huge impact on her confidence. And she now has the tools to easily maintain it ā hitting her steps, training three times a week and enjoying a balanced diet.
āI donāt think I could go back to the way I was before. Iām way more confident.
“I can wear clothes. Iāve even had to change my clothes up because theyāre all too baggy on me now.
“If I went to Las Vegas now, I would be totally happy to wear a bikini and not care what people thought.ā
It has also opened up new doors with her modelling career too.
āWhen I started modelling, it was more ābe skinny. Be slim.ā But I would also appeal now to more fitness brands.
āYou can still have a fit physique and do modelling.
āThere are a lot more people accepting women for how their bodies are rather than just being skinny. Thereās more plus-size, more fitness and more petite models.
āAt the end of the day, I would rather have a body I am confident with and feel happy in my lifestyle and not do modelling as much than force myself just to be skinny.ā
