Feeling fit, strong and confident again was busy mum Rebecca’s goal.

Rebecca was a new mother having had two beautiful boys with just a 14-month gap, but she was struggling to lose her baby weight.

No matter what she did, the number on the scales didn’t budge and she felt like getting back in the shape she wanted was now ‘unattainable’.

All she needed, however, was a structured plan and consistent guidance from an expert personal trainer to turn things around.

Rebecca saw first-hand how quickly things can change as the excess pounds and body fat began dropping off from the start.

She has now lost 16kg in just 16 weeks at Ultimate Performance Amsterdam – and she’s already chasing down even greater goals.

Here she explains how the training and diet helped get her back in great shape just five months after her second child…

What were your expectations going into the program and what were your motivations?

“My motivation was to get all the weight off I gained in two back-to-back pregnancies.

“My boys are 14 months apart, and when I started with my trainer Afzaal, my youngest was almost five months old and I still hadn’t lost any of the weight since his birth.

“I knew at that point it wasn’t going to just fall off, so it was time to take it seriously”


Can you tell me how you were feeling both physically and mentally before starting with UP?

“Physically I was feeling overweight and sluggish. I kind of thought the pregnancy weight would come off easily and hadn’t been too worried about it, but when the scale never started going down, it started overwhelming me a bit mentally as well.

I had so far to go it felt unattainable.”

What was your diet and lifestyle like before you started your transformation with UP?

“Before I had kids, my diet and lifestyle were more or less average. I had run a few marathons in the past, but outside of that nothing really special in terms of fitness.”


“I worked out moderately and ate balanced, but nothing too regimented.

After my sons were born, I had a really hard time getting back ‘into it’.

I just kind of ate whatever and wasn’t making time for workouts, so I was really starting at zero.”

How did your diet and lifestyle change when you started your transformation with UP?

“Well, my diet took a 180, but I was so ready!

My trainer laid everything out for me and helped me set up the MyFitnessPal app, and that helped me so much to have something to hold me accountable and actually realise what I was eating.”



What effect did this have on your health, performance, lifestyle and energy inside and outside the gym?

“Well, the effect on my lifestyle was most noticeably less brunch!

But as soon as I saw the weight coming off little by little, I was really motivated and, in turn, had a lot more energy and determination to stay on track.”

How did you find the training and did it fit around your busy lifestyle?

“I’ve really enjoyed the progression of my sessions.

In the beginning, I felt super weak, but I’m starting to really notice the difference in how I feel during and after the workouts, and it’s good to feel like I’m getting stronger.

“I work out at 6 am which has been really helpful for me as then I know it’s done for the day no matter how busy I get.”



What were your results like after your transformation?

“I’m really pleased with how it’s going and I am starting to feel more and more confident that my goals are achievable.”

What were the most important things you learned during your journey and what really worked for you in helping you make your transformation?

“For me, what I think has made the program work best for me is that while it is strict and definitely requires consistency, it’s actually really realistic.

The workouts are not (total) nightmares, like I would have imagined, and even though the diet was hard for me to “appreciate” in the beginning, it never felt like I had to be a crazy person to make it happen.

“My trainer was always tweaking things, especially in the beginning when I was still nursing my son, and this helped in feeling like it was tailored to me personally and not just a “do or die” black and white program.”



How has doing this transformation changed you and do you think it will benefit you going forward?

“For me, the most positive thing, aside from all I’ve learned about diet and lifting weights, is that I feel like I have established a habit that I can maintain.

“I felt like I had so far to go that it was hard to take the first steps, but now after 16 weeks, I feel like I have a momentum going and can hopefully achieve my end goals.”
