Former cricket professional James is fitter, stronger and lighter than he was in his prime after his ‘phenomenal’ transformation with Ultimate Performance.

As a 41-year-old father with three children, balancing a career in finance, James had found his fitness and his physique fading away from his sporting days.

With little time or energy to spend taking care of his health, he gained weight. Finding himself at a crossroads, he feared that if he didn’t take action now, he might spend the rest of his days unfit and overweight.

Here James talks about what made his 12-week program so effective and how it’s transformed everyday life in ways he never expected.

 

How did you feel about your physique before you started your program?

I felt frustrated. I got to a stage in my life whereby I needed to make a decision; am I going to be fit, or am I going to be not fit or fat? I felt that I had got to a stage where I felt I was teetering on the edge of going in the wrong direction.

 

What motivated you to sign up to Ultimate Performance?

What motivated me to join U.P. was that I’d seen the results that some of my friends had achieved through doing the transformation program. For me, I’d tried various things over the years and had constantly been frustrated with not achieving the results that I’d wanted.

What was it that you enjoyed the most about training at Ultimate Performance?

What I’ve enjoyed most about the training is the level of detail. No stone is left unturned. Every single rep is accounted for, every single calorie is tracked, and every single piece of the process is scrutinised so that you know if you follow what you’re meant to follow, you will get the results.

 

How instrumental was your trainer in helping you achieve your transformation?

My trainer was incredibly instrumental in helping me achieve the results I have achieved. Not only has he been there every step of the way, but constantly messaging me, encouraging me, keeping me accountable for what I’m doing and what I’m not doing – but also educating me as well. I’ve learned a huge amount throughout the whole journey, and that will help me continue into the next phase.

 

What do you think makes Ultimate Performance different compared to other personal training services?

Bearing in mind, a long time ago, I played professional cricket, whereby it was my job to be fit and to train. Even when compared to that, I’ve noticed the difference between U.P. and other personal trainers, and even professional trainers in a sporting environment, is the level of detail and the accountability. As I said, every rep is monitored. You’re not given a program that you are left to go off on your own and try to do it. They are there every single step of the way.

How has your family life improved after your transformation?

My family life has certainly been improved. I have three young-ish children. I get to the end of the week now, and I don’t feel like I need to have time to myself to re-energise or recover from a difficult work week. I’m sleeping better throughout the week and throughout the weekends. I’ve got more energy, and I feel like I’m a better dad.

I feel I have more time and more energy to give to my kids and give to my family, and that means we are doing more on the weekends. We’re getting much better quality time together, and that is invaluable.

 

How has your transformation impacted your work-life?

Before starting, I always thought it would be difficult to accommodate the regime and the commitment into what I do on a day-to-day basis and the work commitments I had.

But actually, I found it a lot easier than I thought it would be. I think if you structure it and plan it and because you have the support from the trainer and the app, and because everything is accountable and monitored in such detail, it actually makes your life that much more manageable.

Things are scheduled. You fit into the schedule because you have more energy, and because you are sleeping better. It is a lot easier to get through that schedule in a more manageable way.

You also have better clarity of thought because you’re sleeping better and feeling more energised. You realise you have a certain amount of time to focus on something in regard to work.

You can give everything to that, knowing you then have then to go on and do your training session or whatever it might be. You’re not procrastinating. You’re actually managing your timetable that much more efficiently.

 

Would you recommend Ultimate Performance?

I would 100% recommend U.P. to others. The output you get from the time you spend here in the gym, and the attention to detail around managing everything outside of the gym itself is phenomenal.
