Tony’s health was in a downward spiral that was worrying for a 31-year-old.
As a senior mortgage advisor, he was glued to his desk for 14 hours a day and living off Deliveroo takeaways.
He’d unwind in the local pub several nights a week, which was only adding to the toll on his health.
‘Rock bottom’ came when he discovered he had dangerously high blood pressure – a condition that can cause heart disease and strokes if left unaddressed.
With the help of Ultimate Performance, Tony has taken control of his health, reversed his high blood pressure, and built the body he’s wanted for over 10 years.
What was your motivation to begin training with U.P.?
I was probably in the worst shape of my life. And I let that spiral go down and down and down until I hit rock bottom.
It got to a point where I told myself I needed some serious help. I was desperate to get back in good shape again.
Tell us about your lifestyle before you started working with your trainer.
It was awful. I’ve got a demanding sales job and often work around 13 to 14 hours a day. A lot of days, I’m glued to my desk, and when I get home, I don’t have much time to cook.
I found myself falling back on Deliveroo and Uber Eats quite regularly. I work in an office with 50 other salespeople, and our local pub was just around the corner. It was easy to go for a drink a couple of nights a week, which began to add up and take a toll on me.
It was an unhealthy, inactive lifestyle I was leading.
How are you feeling about your physique now?
I’m really, really happy with it. It’s probably the best shape I have been in my whole life. That was the aim when I started training with U.P.
I wanted to transform myself completely and do it as quickly as possible. I’m thrilled with where I’m currently at.
You said you’d worked with other personal trainers in the past. How did your trainer at U.P. compare?
The main difference is trainers that I’ve worked with in the past weren’t anywhere near as invested in my success.
Over the last 10 years, I’ve had seven or eight different trainers, but none of them have been as personally focused on my development as my U.P. trainer was.
My old trainers would say everything I was doing was fine, whereas at U.P., you’re constantly being pushed, which I love.
It was exactly what I needed.
We also discovered that your blood pressure was extremely high. How did that make you feel?
I was pretty embarrassed, to be honest. I knew my blood pressure wouldn’t be ideal given my lifestyle, but I was surprised to find out that it was so high.
Now, I’ve seen my blood pressure significantly drop into the healthy range, so we’ve hit the nail on the head with my training.

Finally, do you think the lessons you’ve learnt at U.P. will stick with you forever?
Definitely. The things that I’ve learned about my lifestyle have been invaluable. Everything from the foods I eat, the steps I get in, the food prep and everything else.
That will stay with me for life now – I will always implement these lifestyle changes and I never want to stray off that path.
