Sarah feels “incomparable” to when she first walked through the doors at Ultimate Performance.

She’s gone from her heaviest-ever weight to beaming with self-confidence in a matter of weeks, carrying out a weight training plan that delivered empowering results.

Thrilled with what she’s achieved, it’s progress Sarah couldn’t have made without the one-to-one support of her U.P. trainer. It’s support she says she’s never received from a personal trainer before.

She lost 7kg and rebuilt her confidence from scratch with just three hours per week at U.P. And here’s how she did it…

Why did you decide to start working with a U.P. personal trainer?

I came to U.P. because, after a series of injuries and a couple of years in lockdown, I was unhappy with my fitness and my physique.

I wanted to lose weight and regain some of my strength. I was also hoping to rectify the injuries I had in the past, and basically prevent any further pain in the future.

How did you feel about your body? Was it affecting you?

I was at my heaviest and saddest before I came to U.P. I wasn’t happy with my body and I wasn’t happy with my energy levels or my motivation.

Having previously been fit, healthy and active, I was disappointed with myself to be so inactive. But coming to U.P. changed all of that very quickly.

Three sessions a week became easy. I wanted to get here. I wanted to get better. There’s no comparison to how I feel now.

I’m healthier, fitter and stronger than I’ve ever been.

Have you had any success working with personal trainers in the past?

I’ve had a few trainers in the past, probably around a decade ago with now though. It’s a very different approach at U.P – so much more tailored.

The trainers at U.P. are more personally invested in your progress than the ones I’ve worked with in the past. They’re much more anatomically aware and conscious of your capabilities.

I’ve really enjoyed all my training sessions here, in particular the progression. It’s great to see how closely everything is monitored.

 

How impressed have your friends and family been with your results?

My close friends and family have been amazed by the results. I think they’ve also been impressed by my enthusiasm and dedication towards the whole process.

I have just recently done a photoshoot. I’m yet to pick the final photos, but there are lots of awesome ones to choose from – so says my partner.

How happy are you with the results that you’ve seen, Sarah?

Before joining U.P, I was at my heaviest weight of around 70kg. My most recent weight is 56.8kg and I’ve lost 18cm around my waist.

The most unexpected thing about my transformation is how all-encompassing it has been. I’ve increased my strength on Romanian deadlifts and pull-ups compared to when I started. I couldn’t even lift myself an inch off the floor when I first tried a pull-up, whereas now I can do five.

How did you feel seeing your photo shoot pictures for the first time?

The photo shoot was surprising. I couldn’t believe it was me. I sent a few photos to my friend, and she thought I’d superimposed my head into the photo.

I’m so pleased with the muscle I’ve put on and the definition in my back and shoulders. And I’ve finally got rid of the Love handles, which I didn’t think was possible.
