
Mikeās motivation for losing an incredible 34kg was his daughter.

āI feel great – absolutely full of energy. I never thought Iād live to see the day when Iām getting up at 5:30am in the morning, stretching and going out for a run or a walk. Thatās been great.

Mike has come an incredibly long way in a short space of time.

āI didnāt really have a lot of self-confidence and I didnāt really have any motivation at all.ā

āMy motivation initially for starting with U.P. was primarily down to my daughter.
āI spend a lot of time with my daughter, and I love spending time with her.
āBut the two things she asked for last Christmas were a tennis racket and a football.
āI started thinking to myself ācan I even run around and play tennis with her? Can I get onto the football field and kick a ball with her?ā
āIt made me think that it was about time then to start to do something about it.ā

Mike committed to taking action – for himself and his daughter.
He had a long way to go, but walking through the doors at U.P. Manchester, he knew this was the place, and the team, to help get him to where he wanted to be.
One of the first things Mike was able to affect positive change on was his diet and lifestyle.
For years, he had lived off junk food and alcohol and done little or no exercise.
āMy diet and lifestyle before U.P. were pretty simple really.
āMy diet was beer and takeaways. My lifestyle was work, drink, food, sleep, repeat. It was that simple.
āI had nothing else going on other than when my daughter was staying over. It was pretty sedentary really.ā
Getting Mike being active again every day, walking more and getting in control of his diet with an eating plan full of lean meats, vegetables and healthy fats made a big difference.
He noticed results within a matter of weeks, and by week 5 he was already 10kg down.
āI started seeing results pretty quickly.
āThere was an awful lot to lose, so I guess it dropped off quickly.
āWithin the first three or four weeks, I could notice a huge difference in the way that I looked.
āThen over the next 12 weeks and the work that we put in to keep that up, we ended up getting to a point where I could notice a drastic amount of difference.ā

āFirst and foremost, I can fit into clothes that fit properly, which has been great.

Fast forward 40 weeks and he believes the old Mike is back.
