Amit had his sights set on getting in shape for his 40th birthday, but was doubtful that dream would become a reality.
Now married with two young children, he didn’t have the time or the education to make the drastic changes he wanted to his body.
In the past, Amit often spent three hours a day working out but was never consistent with his routine. Unsurprisingly, his body never responded and he walked away from lifting weights.
With his 40th birthday just weeks away, Amit decided he was going to take up weight training once again, but didn’t want history to repeat itself.
In just 10 weeks of training with Ultimate Performance, Amit achieved a transformation he thought only Hollywood actors were capable of. He lost 7kg and finally built the abs he’s wanted for so long at 40.
Three sessions a week helped Amit pack on muscle mass while dropping fat around his waist, as he became the slimmest and healthiest version of himself.

Here, Amit speaks about how he now understands the ‘correct’ way to train with weights, why U.P. can help people of any age, and how his trainer made sure his plan slotted into his hectic everyday routine.
What motivated you to start training with U.P.?
I was turning 40 in a few weeks and I hadn’t worked out in a while. I’d got married, had kids and stayed away from the gym.
I wanted to get in shape for my 40th birthday, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to do it myself with everything going on in my life. I came across U.P., who have programs that can get you results pretty quickly, so I signed up.
Have you ever been in shape before you started working with your U.P. trainer?
I’ve spent a lot of time at the gym in the past. I used the school and college gyms and trained a lot after I graduated, but I didn’t have any formal training plan. I just went in and did cardio and a little bit of resistance training.
I didn’t research much, though, I just used the machines. I spent two or three hours a day, a couple of times a week training, but was never consistent.
How much has your physique changed training at U.P.?
My life has changed completely. Training at U.P. has been amazing. It’s a great program where you’re held accountable by your trainer. I’ve been consistent with my training and diet; everything is done precisely, so you achieve maximum results – which was why I came here. I’ve seen mind-blowing results.

As long as you follow your trainer’s instructions and have the right mindset and commitment, anyone can achieve their goals.
What sort of benefits have you felt now that you completed your transformation?
I had a wedding to attend recently, and a lot of my family had questions. They were really surprised about my transformation and how quickly my body had changed. It’s nice that people realise my commitment to getting in shape.
It’s been a tremendous physical transformation, but mentally it’s been beneficial too. The patients that I work with also notice the change, they respect me a little bit more I think.
How has training at U.P. been different from any other fitness regime you’ve followed?
I didn’t know what I was doing before, I just wanted to be healthier. I didn’t know how to perform movements right and just followed the instructions on the machine. I was never sure if I was training with the correct tempo or with the right amount of weight.
I didn’t have a goal in mind, so there wasn’t any proper structure to my workouts. With my 40th coming up, I just wanted to be in the best shape of my life. I knew I needed someone experienced to help me create a plan that would work for me. I don’t have the time I used to have now I’m married and have kids, so coming here was incredibly helpful.
Tell us a little bit about how important your trainer has been throughout your transformation.
My trainer has been amazing, he’s available all the time, seven days a week. I can message him on the app or by email and he’ll always respond with very educated answers. Everyone at U.P. knows their stuff. My trainer was very experienced, I was fortunate to have him, but all the trainers at U.P. are very knowledgeable.
What would you say to people who think achieving results in your 40s or later isn’t possible?
I’ve seen other clients in my location who are in their 70s and in fantastic shape. I always thought that your metabolism drops with age, so you can’t build a great body.
I’ve realised working with U.P., that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and have a real commitment to the cause. U.P. hold you accountable every step of the way and they’re there to support you. The more you put in, the better results you will get.
