Alice canāt believe the amazing body she has sculpted at the age of 50 with the LiveUP Bikini Body program.
As a busy working mother-of-six, Alice thought she was āpast itā and feared her best years were behind her.
She had slowly been gaining weight since turning 40 when she almost died from a severe bout of pneumonia which ravaged her muscle mass and left her weak.
Undergoing a full knee replacement operation made matters worse. The pain from her knee made it tough to exercise, play with her children and lead the active lifestyle she needed to get back in shape.

Alice, who lives near Cleveland, Ohio, had tried every DVD workout and diet around to stop her weight gain, but nothing worked to get the dramatic results she craved.

Alice started her transformation to lose weight and feel more confident in clothes as her 50th birthday approached.
āI was fat,ā she says. āI realised last summer that I was looking for clothes that hid what I looked like, not because I liked the clothes or liked the way they looked on me.
āIt seemed like I had an active lifestyle and my diet wasnāt horrible, but I was still continuing to gain weight, so I thought thatās just what I had to settle for, for life.
āI thought the way I looked I was stuck with. It was very frustrating.ā
This had been going on for nearly 10 years.
Her slow and steady weight gain had started as she recovered from a bout of pneumonia that almost claimed her life.
āI was pretty sick. I was on life support.
āI was on a ventilator for 10 or 11 days.
āI lost 20lbs over that time – all my muscle.

āMy legs were teeny and skinny. I lost a ton of muscle mass and that messed with my metabolism.ā
Her recovery was tough. She tried to start running again but wasnāt doing any resistance training with weights to build up the strength and muscle in her weakened legs again.
āI just destroyed my knee that year. I was 41 and I had a couple of knee surgeries.
āThen I was 44 or 45 and the doctor said they just needed to replace my knee.Ā I have an artificial knee.
“I couldnāt get out and do anything with the kids. No walking, no playing in the yard. It was just too painful. I had a full year of rehabbing with it.ā
This all compounded Aliceās weight gain. No matter what she tried, things just got worse.
āI never did any lifting. You name a video program or a fad diet and Iāve tried it. They didnāt work or I would maybe lose 5lbs. Nothing fantastic or body altering.ā

Then she found the LiveUP Bikini Body Program and everything changed.
At first, Alice was worried about the effect lifting weights would have on her body.
She feared lifting weights would make her big and bulky.
āWeight training for ladies is not really whatās advertised.
āWhen you flip on the TV you see other diets and exercises that are popular and none of them involve weight training.
āThey involve aerobics or diets with points or no carbs. Itās not out there or commonly known for ladies that you can do weight training.
āI actually thought I was going to get big and muscular, so I was sceptical about it. ButĀ Iām not getting bigger, Iām getting smaller, which is awesome!ā
Despite never having lifted weights before in her life, Alice says the learning curve was quick.
āWith the exercises, I feel nothing is tricky or hard to figure out. If I can figure it out, anyone can.
āThe gym is just three times a week. Itās literally an hour or an hour and 20 minutes a time. Itās very doable.ā
Alice has access to a library of exercise videos, the guidance of UP trainers and the support of hundreds of other women training towards the same goal on the LiveUP community forum.
āI donāt have other ladies in my area who are doing weight lifting yet. So the support on the forum is invaluable.

āThe ladies are fantastic. I have a couple of friendships going on with ladies from around the world.

Alice was amazed by how quickly her body changed training with weights three times a week.
āI keep all my progress photos. When you look at where you first started and where you are now, you almost wouldnāt believe it!
āThe difference even in just the first two weeks was huge.ā
Now Alice is on phase 5 of the program, which changes every month, and is astounded by the results so far.
āIāve lost almost 25lbs of fat since I started. And Iāve gained muscle. I was wearing a size 10. Now Iām wearing a size 4!
āEverything is too big now! I’m having to buy all new clothes. My shoes are the only things that still fit!ā
Alice is incredibly proud of her new body and canāt wait until summer to be able to wear a whole new wardrobe.
āIām going to be able to buy things where I wonāt be ashamed to show off my figure because doing the weight lifting, itās changing my body.
āIt might already be better now than it has in my entire life. Even in my twenties!
āI told my husband the other day that my butt is looking the best itās looked ever.

āI said āis this even my butt? Feel how firm it is!ā
āI thought last summer that maybe this is the body Iām stuck with. Maybe this is as good as itās going to get.
āI would have never thought that at the age of 50 you would have the best butt of your life.ā
Alice says the best thing about the program is how simple but effective it is – from the training to the meal plan.
It was easy to find 3 hours in her week to exercise and swapping her old diet, which was heavy on wine and cheese, to four balanced and delicious meals a day was a breeze.
āThe diet was super-easy. When Iām making my plate of food, itās literally just meat, veg, fat and fruit. Itās as simple as that.
āPeople at work think I must be cutting carbs. But I eat fruit twice a day and on my workout days I get to eat two portions of carbs, so I donāt feel deprived in any way.
āIt doesnāt even feel like a diet. I eat all the time. Iām happy with that because I like food, I like to eat and I have plenty of food to choose from!
āI have banana chocolate protein pancakes with berries every Saturday morning. It doesnāt sound like a diet! But Iām losing weight.ā
Alice is excited to see how much more she can achieve on her LiveUP plan.
āI used to dread working out and would never want to work out.
āNow I canāt wait to work out because I know Iām going to feel fantastic.
