26-year-old Frieda believed her poor lifestyle and diet were behind her constant illnesses.

She spent the majority of her time feeling sluggish and out of sorts, especially in mornings where she struggled to pull herself out of bed.

Although her weight wasn’t a pressing concern, Frieda wasn’t happy with her figure or the diet she’d adopted during the pandemic.

Ten weeks on, Frieda feels a shadow of her old self and has changed the direction of her career completely. Her slim figure has even given her the confidence to step on stage and compete in a bodybuilding show.

Frieda feels healthier, happier and free of any sicknesses that used to affect her. So inspired by the value of her U.P. trainer, she’s now beginning to work towards her own personal training qualification.

Here, Frieda speaks about her new newfound passion for lifting weights, why the support of an accountable expert was invaluable during her 10-week journey, and how her constant tiredness is now a thing of the past.

 

 

What motivated you to start training with U.P.?

I put on weight during the pandemic, and I knew I wanted to do something about it. But my main goal when joining U.P. was to increase my strength to assist me in my job and improve my overall health. I used to fall ill quite a lot, which I believe was down to my diet and poor health. I was constantly tired and struggled to get out of bed.

 

 

What changes have you seen while working with your trainer?

Coming to U.P. has given me a sense of structure and a routine to work around. With all the food help and training benefits, I now feel stronger, ready to go and full of energy. My strength and all-around health has dramatically improved – I haven’t been dealing with any of the illnesses I used to.

What have you achieved working with your trainer?

I had a goal to be able to complete some pull-ups, which I’ve now achieved. I’ve done three or four unassisted pull-ups, which has been a great journey. We started with assisted pull-ups, that were very hard at the beginning, but as the weeks went on they became easier and easier. Now I can do four unassisted pull-ups, which is a massive achievement and I hope to eventually get to 10.

 

 

Now that your transformation is complete, have you found a new love from training?

I’ve always loved sports, but since joining U.P. I’ve grown to love the gym and become passionate about training. I’ve now even started my own personal training qualification. I also recently competed in a body-building competition, which is something I never thought I’d do. My next goal is a powerlifting competition in July.

 

 

How important was the accountability of your trainer throughout your transformation?

The one thing that helped me overcome obstacles along the way was the accountability of my trainer. Without that, I don’t think I would have been able to hit the goals I had set in place. Coming into the gym twice a week meant I couldn’t hide away or slip up, because my trainer would be there keeping me accountable and put me right back in my place!
