“Coming out of lockdown, I have bumped into people and friends who haven’t seen me since I started with U.P. and they didn’t even recognise me, which is awesome!
“Their first question is, how did you do it? And I tell them – U.P.”
Seeing the remarkable transformation photos others in his position had achieved at U.P. compelled him to start his own journey.
“I honestly wasn’t sure I was capable of making the same changes that I saw on the website, but I figured that if I was going to get fit, then U.P. was the only place that could get me there.
“I was nervous about getting started because I was pretty out of shape at the beginning, but as soon I got into the gym and met my trainer, I felt super comfortable, and that stayed with me the whole time I was there.”
Dan had a considerable amount of weight to lose – he was 117kg at his heaviest.
But he is proof that you don’t have to be fit to start. With a structured and methodical approach driven by data and science, Dan saw how following the process delivered results he simply would never have been able to achieve alone.
Everything was planned and tailored to his needs, and all he had to do was show up at the gym and follow the plan.
“In the first week or two, my trainer set me up with a nutrition plan and caught me up with everything I needed to do outside the gym and the workouts I needed to do in the gym and that totally set me up for success.
“It removed any obstacle to not making progress. To me, that was huge.”
Dan’s work saw him away from home for most of the week, which brought unique challenges to his transformation.
But in partnership with his expert trainer, he was easily able to navigate these and continued to make rapid progress.
All the thinking and planning was handled by his trainer; all Dan had to do was show up at the gym and give 100%.
“When I started, I was on the road for four days a week, and I wasn’t sure if I would be able to stick to the diet plan, but my trainer found me a meal plan that I could use even in the hotels I was staying at.
“U.P. and my trainer were invaluable in achieving my results. The amount of support I got all through the 32 weeks that I have been here has been just incredible – all I needed to focus on was following the plan.”
The lockdown could have left Dan’s fitness plans in ruins, but U.P. had him covered, and with some intense virtual support and online training, he made the best of the situation and emerged from the lockdown with some incredible progress.
“The thing that sets U.P. apart is the focus on results and the track record that backs that up. As soon as you walk through the door, the before-and-after transformation pictures made me feel that I could achieve that.
“Covid-19 and lockdown didn’t change that at all. I was supported through that with virtual sessions and virtual check-ins and then as soon as we could get in the park we were trained there and then as soon as we could get in the gym, I have been back here training. I think we pulled through that nicely.”
The outcome of eight months of training has been astounding for Dan.
“In terms of physical change, I see it everywhere, but the abs are a huge one for me.
“When I was carrying a lot of weight on my belly, there were some negative effects; just sitting at work was uncomfortable.
“I would suck in my stomach every time I passed a mirror. I wasn’t at all happy with how I looked. Now I can see my abs coming through, which is amazing.”
Not only did Dan see an unbelievable physical transformation, he also felt the effects of living in a fitter body permeate every other area of his life.
“U.P. has exceeded my expectation in every way. I would have been happy with half of how much I lost.
“When it started, I had gotten some blood work done, and I had a number of things that were on the high side such as cholesterol.
“I also had high blood pressure and chronic heartburn. And just within the first couple of months, we saw the numbers drop down into normal limits. I haven’t had even one episode of heartburn since I started my U.P. diet.
“Keeping fit and living a more active lifestyle is probably the biggest gain for me. I am not training for a marathon or anything, but being able to get out and run a couple of miles is really nice. I fully intend to continue being active and fit.”
