“I’m much stronger. I lost a total of 11kg in weight, so now I am doing chin-ups with 20kg tied to me for sets of five reps. I can trap-bar deadlift 170kg for five reps.

Lee saw his weight drop nearly 2 stone during his 12-week journey and cut his body fat by more than half to a super-lean 10.8%.
Small but profound changes to his diet and training helped him make such remarkable progress in a short space of time.
Before he was eating a diet he thought was healthy, but was based heavily around carbs. There was not a great deal of protein in his diet or many vegetables either – breakfast consisted of cereals, then sandwiches or a potato for lunch, with pasta in the evening.
But the nutritional coaching from UP helped him to understand macronutrients, calories and how to structure a diet for optimal body composition.
Equally, with his training, Lee was able to make huge progress very quickly. Before, he had been training four or five times a week – but with just three weekly sessions a week he was able to maximise his performance and learn the proper form on every exercise to deliver incredible results.
Now mechanical engineer Lee says he is confident training in the gym and knows that what he is doing in training is working.
What was the obstacle that would have prevented you from starting your UP transformation?
I would say my biggest obstacles were time, due to work commitments, and travel and location. Six months before starting with UP I was commuting from Leeds to Warrington every day which meant I couldn’t start any earlier.
What did you find as a result of training with UP?
It was a massive education process. I used to train on my own, but now I realise that before I might not have been doing the exercises correctly and the types of exercises might not have been the best choice for my goals.
Nutrition was also an education process; knowing what to eat and when. I used to think I ate well before, but UP has changed my mind with what a healthy diet should be.

What specific benefit did you like most about your UP journey?
The coaching. I found it useful, so now I’m much more confident when I go to the gym on my own and enjoy the programmes I do on my own a lot more as I know I’m moving in the right direction.
Also, having a structured programme in which my reps and weights, body fat and measurements are constantly tracked. This helped me to see I was making progress which spurred me on even more.
It was good how when things started to slow down I had a trainer who could tweak something slightly with nutrition to keep the process moving in the right direction.
What three other benefits will you take away from your transformation journey with UP?

The confidence I now have to do these exercises on my own is massive as before I would have been scared of getting injured on exercises like these.

Confidence too – I feel I look much better now than before I started.
