Sandra loves what she sees in the mirror and feels confident in her bikini after completing an impressive transformation at Ultimate Performance Amsterdam.
She couldn’t have felt more different just 14 weeks earlier.
Sandra, who is 34, had recently moved to Amsterdam, but the mix of a new job in a new country had caused her to gain weight.
Feeling unhappy and uncomfortable in her bikini on a beach holiday, she decided to take action after finding inspiration on Instagram by the results dozens of women had achieved at Ultimate Performance.
After 14 short weeks and Sandra has achieved her own stunning transformation, losing 15kg and halving her body fat.

“Now I look in the mirror and like my body, and I even enjoy wearing a bikini, which I never did before in my life.
“I am proud of what I achieved so far, but I am striving for more and definitely want to keep my new healthy lifestyle. I have to admit it is also a bit addictive. It gives me so much and I simply enjoy the journey.”
Sandra explains how she has learned about the diet that works for her body, and how training can help her become less stressed, more focussed at work, and get more out of life.
What were your motivations for starting a transformation journey with U.P.?
After moving to Amsterdam, I lost my training and diet routine as not only did I have to get used to a new job, but also to a new country, culture and way of life.
Within a few months I gained quite a lot of weight and in November, lying at the beach and not feeling comfortable in my own skin, I decided to do something about it. I never really felt comfortable with my body, my whole life.
That was when I discovered U.P. on Instagram. I was amazed by the great results of the clients, read all the articles and watched the testimonial videos, and decided to go for it and finally get the body I always wanted.
How were you feeling both physically and mentally before starting with U.P.?
I really didn’t feel comfortable in my skin up to the point that I didn’t want to look at myself anymore in the mirror.
Clothes got tighter, nothing looked as nice as I had it in my mind, and I was tired and just unhappy with myself. Also I had the feeling everyone around me achieved what they wanted, so I asked myself ‘why shouldn’t I?’
What was your diet and lifestyle like before you started your transformation with U.P.?
Although I knew already quite a bit about healthy lifestyle, I didn’t really take care with my diet before I joined U.P. because my job had, at that point, been my priority and I literally disregarded my health. I sometimes skipped meals, ate unhealthy food and barely cooked at home.
How did your diet and lifestyle change when you started your transformation with U.P.?
My diet and lifestyle changed completely. The first few weeks we focused on low-carb and high-protein meals.
I learnt a lot about nutrition, macronutrients and the different composition of meals. It was hard at the beginning because I had to get used to tracking all my calories and have someone checking on me all the time. But this was exactly what was needed so I didn’t give up after a few days.
What effect did this have on your health, performance, lifestyle and energy levels?
The first few weeks I felt horrible. I was constantly angry and sad, mainly at myself, that I got to this point and couldn’t enjoy things the same way others could.
But after seeing the first results rather quickly, I was convinced that this was the right way to go.
Step by step, I didn’t only change my body, but my mindset too. I am a happier person than I was before, I can handle stress better, and the training helps me to put things in perspective.
I always walk out of the gym feeling better than before. On top of that, I got lots of great reactions from people telling me that they like the more relaxed new me.
How did you find the training and did it fit around your busy lifestyle?
The training sessions were always great and I enjoyed being pushed to my limit every time.
My trainer, Glenn, is a great personal trainer who takes his responsibility very serious and actually truly cares about his clients. I always felt supported and understood and Glenn always made the best out of each session.
To make the training session fit my busy schedule at work, I informed my team right at the beginning to avoid any clashes with meetings.
What were the most important things you learned during your journey and what really worked for you in helping you make your transformation?
If I could only point out one thing then I would say ‘mindset is everything.’ The first few weeks were hard. I got challenged on a completely different level and to be able to face the challenges I didn’t only have to train my body, but also my mind so I didn’t fall back in old diet and exercise behaviours.
I started right before Christmas when all the drinks and dinners were happening. So I had to be strong not to drink alcohol and make the right choices in restaurants to stick to my plan. But these short-term sacrifices were justified for the long-term perspective.
How has doing this transformation changed you and do you think it will benefit you going forward?
The whole transformation changed me significantly. Not just physically, but especially mentally. I have become much stronger, and I can handle stress and challenges better. I found my way of letting go and I can put everything more in perspective.
Usually, after a training session, things don’t seem as bad as before anymore. It simply makes me happy and clears my mind. And I am sure this is only the beginning. This is my new way of life!
